well my friend wants to trade me his 84250r for my 98 ski doo formula-z 670 the atc is all original in excellent shape still on the original topend and it has another front rim and hub assembly it has 18inch holeshots in the rear and comes with a nother set of 25inch wooley boggers. my sled is in good shape but has a cracked belly pan and needs a new track really bad it has 9000miles on it should i trade him and if i do what should i look for first sorry for the long post

I always look for broken studs on the engine, rear/front wheel bearings, bent frame, anything seized up, bent axles, make sure it shifts through all the gears, and just regular things that go out like bushings.

original top end, I suggest you to do a compression test.

it has lots of compression he says and i know it always starts on 1st or 2nd kick

:( I just got a brand new set of rear fenders for an 84r (maier), and i had the chance to get one super cheep that realy needed plastics. I just didnt have the room for it :(

if you like the R more than the 670 than I say go for it. I dont know about in Michigan, but around here 9,000 miles is a lot for a sled especially a 98. Plus if it needs a track figure that could be anywere from $300 to $500, and say the damage to the belly pan is $100. Even with low miles that sled is probably worth about $1800-$2000 if nice, then add on the high miles probably puts it around $1500 range, take off 500 for track and pan, and $1000 or maybe a little less is about what a mint 84 250R is worth. So yeah I say go for it. Also another thing I've noticed is that while the 90's and 80's sleds are decreasing in value as they get older, it seems like these trikes are just going up.
