Do you run a wide rear end, how? which brand of axle? wheel spacers? do you run a non Kawasaki rear end? and

Do you run an extended swingarm, what brand is it? What length?

Thankyou in advance

I just bought a '86 roller and have a long way to go before riding it, but I put 300ex rear hubs on the stock axle which made it wider. I'm not sure exactly how much wider because I didn't measure the stock width first  - 2 to 3 inches total I think.

Thanks for the reply. Do the 300EX hubs fit properly or are they a bit loose/tight?

Has anyone else mixed and matched rear end parts on a 2nd Generation Tecate?

heres my 86 with my 85s bearing carrier, axle, and 84 hubs and wheelspacers on it. bolts right up. and i left the sprocket and rotor right on which also line right up. i have the stock carrier and axle back on it rght now cuz i was just seeing what it would look like widened, i love the look. i am going to be getting some 4x156 durablue easyfit wheelspacers for it eventually, will give me 2.5 inches of width on each side.

Thats a plus 4 i found is a salvage yard w/ a crazy-G bolt in 6in extender.
I love it, it works great.

my 300ex hubs fit a little tight - could have been rust - and will need a small spacer between it and the axle. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Scooteroo, Your 86 is comming along nicely. I'm a fan of the white frames. I can't decide to between White or Silver for my Tecate which goes into the powdercoater next week. Have you got any side on photos of the 86 with the engine in it?

Mike 6, that swingarm extender is good stuff, nice axle too. Your rims are beat up pretty bad. They wouldn't be light gauge douglas rims would they?

200x350xtriz250, thanks for the info.

If anyone else has a hybrid rear end on their Tecate speak up....

From post:

"AS for the 86+87 you can use a tecate 4 axle.

I have been keep this under my hat for alittle while, after that ordeal with the decals I swore I'd never help this stite again.I give you 1 more chance.

there are 2 things you need to know.

first: you can only use the eliminator axles.the tecate 4 is shorter then the tecate 3.so a plus 4 is only going to be +2 or stock.

second: you must use a rad lock nut there is not enough threads for double nuts.

THANKS TRIZTUNES!!!!!!"

Thanks fro the links nd4speed

I PMed 3wheels4ever and he gave me the good oil on fitting a 400EX axle to a T3 carrier. It sounds like the way to go.

I was just wondering if anyone else had tried any other combinations.

with the 300ex hubs a 5/16 spacer will be needed. I also used the Honda's castle nut...felt a little tight but threaded on by hand. pics are a bit blurry but I think you'll get the idea.

No one else has shown proof of the 400ex axle in the T3.

3wheels4ever was very helpful back then (and now, apparently,) and I hope his idea catches on.

Noice Tecate Scooteroo. I'm so tempted to go white. Everyone I ask says I should just keet it standard. I dunno. Is that tank painted?

nd4speed, 3whls4ever sent me the Pm regarding 400Ex axles in a T3 ages ago. You are right, I haven't seen anyone else do it. But thats not to say it can't be done.

I'm in the process of stripping down my Tecate at the moment and I'm going to throw my spare YFZ450 Axle into the carrier and see If I can make it fit. I'll let everyone know if I'm successful.

I think the white frames are definately the best looking tecates... But after having a white frame on my quadracer, I just couldn't do it on my Tecate... Its can be a royal pain to clean, as it shows everything... One trip through some clay mud and it never looked the same again... Although I suppose a trike would be alot easier to detail than a quad..

Ive talked with durablue, the t4 axle will not work they say..

The guy that said he fit a T4 axle into a T3 said you needed to do some minor modifications to do so (lock nut etc...). Dura Blue wouldn't be interested if thier axles could be shoehorned into other aplications. All they would care about is fitting their axles to the machines they were designed for. That said, I wouldn't bother with the t4 axle as they are rare anyway.

Today I pulled out the T3 carrier and put my spare 04 YFZ450 axle into it. The bearing surfaces are a match, length and diameter. It fits snugly into the carrier. The Sprocket and Brake hub splines were a different size though. It would require the use of YFZ hubs if this mod was to work. I'm not stripping my YFZ to get to the hubs so this little experiment has come to a grinding halt.
