My KLT is idling smoothly and quietly but as soon as you hit the throttle it acts like it's flooding and starts to stall. What's going on?

Clean your carb real well especially the jets. This happened on my 70 and thats what we did and then it worked fine..

My buddy had this problem, it turned out the choke was stuck. The choke would pin in some position and would let it idle fine but bogg and smoke when he try to move.

I appreciate the help guys.

I know the choke is operating correctly so I'll try cleaning it out better. It's amazing this thing is running at all. It sat in my neighbors backyard in the rain for 18 months. The carb was pretty gooped up so I probably didn't do a good enough job when I cleaned it last time.

I cleaned my first carb about 3 times before I realized I was overlooking one vent everytime. Now mind ya I was really young then. I have learned since then clean clean clean with carbs.

I just had this problem on a 83 110 honda. tore the carb off, cleaned it up good and it runs like a champ again

use a small piece of wire to run through the jets. Also clean the petcock valve good.

Well, I cleaned the carb out carefully last night and no difference. I did notice that even though I just put a new coil on my spark is really weak. Could a weak spark contribute to this problem. And, with a new coil and plug, why wouldn't I have perfect spark?

Well, I wiggled the key in the ignition and the lights got brighter and it started accelerating. Maybe it is an electrical short or something related to the spark? Well, it'll run great as long as I can wiggle the key while I drive.

Spark still looks pathetic though. Tiny little spark.
