What rear calipers FOR SURE swap with the 1986 350x? Please no guessing. I have the 1986 mounting bracket. Just need to find a cheap caliper that isn't frozen all to hell.

This bike is inching it's way towards the chopping block. Getting really, really sick of fighting with issues around every corner.

It's zero outside, I'm not gonna go try it.... You don't want a guess but I'm confident the 83-85 200X rears all fit as does the 86-87 200X and the 85 350X too. But you don't want a guess so I'll see you in 40 more degrees.....

I'm hoping a caliper off a newer bike will work actually. Something that's had less time to rot.

Thats the thing, you can buy 6 of them and only get 1 good one and 1 that can be rebuilt. Most of the ones I bought are junk.

I realize you want NO MODS so I'm not certain what works. The YZF does with some "egging out" of a hole or something, but didn't Jason find that a CR80 front caliper worked also? Search that one, IDK if it was a direct b o or not....

that was me that did the cr80 front caliper swap onto a 85 200x. it bolts rite up to the 200x bracket. will be the same on a 350x bracket. the cr80 even uses the same brake pads. get a caliper from a 2006 cr80 or crf150 they go cheap on ebay. i bought one for $26 for mine

the Yzf swap is for the 86250r if you get one from a 2003 or newer yz dirt bike you only have to egg the holes 2mm's. i did this swap to my 86trx250r.

I just bought a front caliper off a 1999 CR80 Big Wheel (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250191197112&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=015). Looks to be an identical part to the new 80's and the crf150. I'll update this thread after I get it.

Thanks guys! :beer

Is it the front or rear caliper that interchanges? I'm figuring the rear?

Bike front fits the trike rear. You can look at the pic and see it's the same part with a different color paint.

I'm on the hunt now for a cr80 or crf150, they are the same looks like

definitive answer you say huh? I used one off of a 2000 300ex on my 86 350X, bolts on no modification needed! hows that?

on ebay they sell new ones listing them for 300ex/400ex/350x. althought the cr80 ones are smaller and look cleaner if you dont need the parking brake cable set up.

Most people block the parking brake cable anyways .. a 300ex works also? hmmm now we have a couple choices to go with

Got the CR80 caliper and mounted it up. It wasn't in as good of shape as I was hoping but it's better than what I had by a mile. Had to let it soak a bit to get the sliders unstuck. Still not moving like they should but it's good enough for now. Gotta bleed it and it should be good for the trike rally at least.

Just wanted to post confirmation that they do in fact bolt right up using the stock 350x mount. I should have spent a little extra and for the one off the CR125F that was on there when I got this one. It was fifteen bucks more but only a yeard old.

take the braket off and never seize the crap out of the sliders

If after this trike rally I decide I like the 350x enough to keep it, I'm going to rebuild the caliper. For now I just put a little grease on the sliders. The main one is rusted pretty good and needs to be replaced anyway.

Do the caliper rebuild kits come with a new slider? Never bought one before.

how much was the 1999 caliper? when i did this to my 200x and made the thread i got a caliper from the front of a 2006 cr85. was from a bike that was never rode and it worked flawless,

i used a rear kx80 caliper for the front of the 85 200x

I paid $32 shipped for it.

Tested it out a couple hours ago. The whole system needs to get worked in a little but it's working.

Same here. I'd like to replace everything, front and rear with something 2005 or newer if possible.

Any front caliper swaps?

yeah damnit, the front caliper is the same as the rear I believe, just walk outside and give it a look. but i'm almost positive it is.

Not even close. Maybe different on a 1985 but mine is a 1986 so I don't know. The front on mine is dual piston versus the single piston rear. I'd have to take a closer look to see if maybe the mounts are the same but the calipers themselves are very different.

The Goat

hmmm...mine are both dual piston calipers.

Dirtcrasher

200X calipers (front and back) are both similar on 83 to 87 but the 350X had 2 different front dual piston calipers. 85 and 86 are not the same and do not use the same brake pads either......

FYI - I just got my 2006 CR85 front brake caliper from ebay. It is NOT a direct bolt on fit - stay away from this year. I will have to mod my 350X caliper mount to make this fit.
