Hey there guys:

I searched the forums and looked around but came up empty handed.

Are there any aftermarket chain slider/buffer for the TRI-Z?
Does any other fits?
I think the Warrior chain guide fits just need the front piece. I'm sure there are many more that may need this part, Please help...
Sorry if the info has been posted before.

Thanks,
TORKER.

Both sliders are avail still from yamaha. I dont believe there are any aftermarket sliders. I do however use ALLBALLS Rollers, instead of OEM

My local Yamaha dealer sucks. So I thought that maybe I order it aftermarket and get it home.
The rear chain guides are available from a lot of companies like UPP,
TM Designworks, Vito's etc...
It's the font slider that I can't seem to find.

Thanks for the help tho, really apreciated.
If anyone else can help, Please chime in...

TORKER.

May I borrow one to use for reproduction purposes ? (no, I ain't gonna screw it (up), or other wise ~ kinda a loaded quistion I know :) )
I make a mold from it, clean it back up from clay and return, along with a nice reproduction one and money in the box to cover your original shipping to me.
I can make a mold from a old one as a pattern, but then the parts I pull from that mold look just like the pattern piece and i an't much into that. if I am gonna do it I want my parts to look like factory new (and perform just as good OR better)
PM'ing you to jonolanracin

112823112824My question is: This one is obviously about shot but do the not go all around the swing arm ?
Or another way to word it is - you can remove the front slider with out taking the swing arm off ?
I "acquired" this one to study out as to the best way to make the mold and if it is the case that these normally can be removed with out dropping the swing arm, well that is simply brilliant engineering on Yamaha's part.
And question #2 I have is all 3 of the models of Tri-Z the same ??? The 85, 85 1/2, and 86 all use the same front slider ???

tecat-z
01-02-2011, 10:21 AM
Yes John, all Tri-z's use same part. It is a "slip" in part, so replacement is fast & easy. I have a NOS slider if you need one for any reason...

Maybe a sign up sheet is in order so I can use it as a guide. Same as i am doing on the Tecate over flow coolant bottle.
Got that brand spanking new front slider from Mike the other day (it was still sealed in original package ! )
I am gonna start the mold making process this Sunday so perhaps by next week end I will have a few to show.
I did have a bath room remodel project to do but that got moved back a little bit time wise ,,,
So, lets start a sign up list so as to give me some direction on demand please.

Any idea on a cost for them? Plain or colored any price difference? What colors will be available?

THANKS FOR RE-FABBING THESE!!

jeswinehart
02-03-2011, 12:17 PM
yep, will do Mosh. You folks are getting a package coming your way this monday for aussieQuad ( Tammy will tell you his correct board name ~ I just have a problem getting that one right),,, I will put it in his box of Tecate parts that Tammy is gonna include with his fender order.
I am leaning towards 35.00 shipped state side, international shipping is what ever it is.
Buy 1 for 35 get the 2nd. one included for 30 or how ever many you buy at 30 dollars each.
Basically what my other sliders I make for Tecates sell for.
Solid colors won't cost anything more (white-black-red-green-blue-PINK)
but other then black, or white, the shade of color is not gurenteed.

I will get some money sent your way shortly..Give me a few days.
White will be fine.

115900115901115902115903115904Okay, I played around with mounting the first white one last night after work and it got dark on me so no pictures. It was enough working by flash light in the cold storage area.
I soon found out there is a correct way and a incorrect way to mount these.
I thought the embossed side, around the bolts holes on one side should face out, nope, that is the wrong way. I mounted it up like that (incorrectly) and cranked down on both mounting bolts and thought I heard a "snap" noise. I had the bolts about as tight as I was comfortable with on Eric's 86 Tri-Z and really not wanting to strip out swing arm bolt holes.
After taking the white slider back off I found on the rear mounting hole a small hair line crack running from edge of bolt hole to the end of slider. That was it, nothing else amiss.
I remounted back in the same way and that is when I noticed the chain appeared to be righ tin the inside edge of the slider and not centered.
So, I took it back off and figured it needed flipped over which put the slightly raised embossed bolt hole area against the slider and it centered the chain on top of the guide.
I re-tightened the bolts with it on properly to the very max, tapped on the slider with socket handle all over the place, fine, just fine.
Now I did not beat the dog crap out of it by any means but since this is the same exact material I have been making 86/87 T-3 and 87/88 T-4 sliders out of for 2 years I know it will take chain slap okay and have good life on the slider.
Okay, look in classifieds folks. I probably have pushed the envelope about as much as I should with this project in trikesylvania (should have been in the R+D section).

Thanks guys. john

Sweet, nice work John.

I don't won't to overwhelm John as you all know he's a very busy man, however, while he has mine to experiment with, are there any other parts you guys want for the Z? Any kind of small plastic or rubber part that's hard to find? I know the overflow bottle has been mentioned. What about colored intake boots ?
p.s. John If I send you whats left ( and that's not much) of Jess's chain slider from her 86 200X could you make a pink one for hers....it's not a Z Raffa!!!

The method I used for reproduction is to use as intact of a part there is available.
the best part about my process is it will duplicate exactly what I use as a pattern, to make the mold.
The bad part is, it will duplicate exactly what I use as a pattern to make the mold :)
If the pattern part has 2 scratches and a smiley face on it, the mold will have the exact same and so will any parts I pull from it.
So, I need a very nice to new one to use.
And, not to mention I have just enough going on for the foreseeable future to keep me busy.

Nice work John.
I have a idea.

If you could make that front exhaust pipe hanger, those would be needed. They always fall apart.
2 pieces of metal with a isolator sanwiched in between them.

jeswinehart
02-06-2011, 10:41 AM
Well Rob, I was going to. And in doing my normal home work I discovered (with help of another board members posting) that they are still very much available for the ridiculous price of 18 dollars :)
The original part number has been superseded by a new #, because the first years of the original hanger where , well not so good.
The superseded # is the improved ones. They are used on a whole bunch of Kawi dirt bikes and other machines.
I bought a couple of extra to put on eBay but never did get my opening bid of 25 dollars with min. shipping.
Dam I thought I had the cat in the bag on that one and was gonna make a killing but good ole GOOGLE probably brought up postings from here in 3WW and folks just read that post I wrote up.
Ya gotta be careful of that ya know, lots more folks doing their home work.
But hey,,, when are you + Tammy gonna start making your own seat pans and foam ???

Mosh
02-06-2011, 10:49 AM
Well scrap that idea then.

Honestly, I have not touched a Z in over 3 years as far as building or buying parts for them once the 330 got finished, so I guess I would be outta the loop of what is still available or not. Pretty much lost interest in them. I stick to 250R's and 70's these days.

I will crawl back in my Tri-Z cave now Hehe.

EDIT and as far as you question directed to us..
You will find your answer in your very own post.

Oh crap ! I had Tecate in my head when reading ! I don't know about Z hangers,,,,
Sorry Rob !
I was looking up that posting about tecate hangers so here that is, no way a Z hanger by any means.
Okay, I think I will go crawl off now ,,,, :)
