It will strap on but the 85 does not have a voltage regulator - does it? In that case the lighting coil probably won't get them very bright.

i want to do a 350x head light also but good luck finding one for under $100 everyone knows they are like gold so they will not sell them unless they are really really beat or just want to make some big cash.
you could try a 250R one.

What you did is great!
But..... I still wonder if you just need to rewind the coil until a given resistance is achieved to match the wattage of the OEM bulb. The stock 250R is very bright.
I only continue to push on this because allot of guys do not want to modify there headlight housings. If we could simply rewind the lighting coil, it would be sweet.
I'm no EMF expert... The more coils, the greater the resistance. But what that does to a series of poles rotating around it and how it affects the output....UGGHH I'm not sure.....
Anyone remember when a couple guys went PSYCO GENIUS about building there own CDI?? Well, I wish they could just fix a dam lightbulb :naughty:

350X headlights fit and work great on a 250SX.
But they can't be used on an 85 and older 200X.

My cousin has a 350x light on his '84 200x. just bolting on a 350x light doesn't make the lights brighter, I'd say they are equivalent to stock, give or take a little. Here's a pic, sorta hard to see with a guard on. You have to do some wiring to make it work.
