Due to a steering damper on 84R, the former owner relocated the coil with this bracket.

If I make a nice aluminum one, will it no longer ground at all to the frame and will I have to run a seperate ground wire from one of the coil mounts to frame?

thats what i would do. i had a sled with aluminum mounting brackets for the coils and it had wires going from each coil to the steel sub frame.

Aluminum will work perfect. It's used for both the common and ground wires in your home electrical panel.....
