Ok, here goes. It seems to me that the 86 350x and 86 200x use the same style front wheel. 85 350x and 87 200x use the common pressed center section where hub studs go through. 86 models have what seems to be a cast center section. 250r's never used this type of center that i have seen. Am i correct on this? What is the reason for this one year style? Are the two 86 model wheels and hubs completely interchangable? Are these rare, or just common oem stuff. I've never noticed a difference until just last week, since my friend and i am in the midst of 86 250R build. And we're hunting down wheel options.

The 86 350X was the only bike in production that used that style wheel and they had matching rears. The 86 200X had them on in the brochure picture but I have never seen them in real life and have had 2 86's that still had the factory paint on the lug nuts. I would guess they were too costly to produce so they dropped them.

I see what you mean.I have an 86 350r with the so called billet front wheel.I know that the 86 200x and 350x will interchange. Not sure about the 83-85 200x.Plus the 85-86 250r fronts can interchange too. I dont know why the 350x is the only one to have the billet centers. The rear rims match the front on the 86 as well. The rest are all the same style pretty much. They still use the steel inserts on most honda rims with the tapered lug nuts.

According to my chart the 85/86 250r and the 85/86 350x take the same size douglas front rim.
To answer your question no. It is on my 85 250R.

This year at the swap meet at Tweeter Center someone had 2 of those cast center 86 style rims. They were on a 86/87 200X rear axle and had an 8" outside diameter?? I thought 350X rims were 9"s?

I'm almost positive all 350x's had 9's on the back. Could they have been a similar 8 inch aftermarket look alike?

I'm with DC on this one, I once saw a set of those 8" cast center section rear wheels on an 86 200X that was all original up in Rhinelander, WI about 5 years ago. Guy had the trike for sale in front of the shop I was working at.

86-87 200X's came stock with 9" rear rims so if anybody saw cast center 8" rims they were aftermarket or something. This has been debated before and the outcome was the 86 200X never had the cast rims. None of the parts places show an 8" cast center rim either.

They were definitely a 8" O.D. rim and identical to my 86 350X front rim other than the outside diameter, same casting. They caught my eye because it was about 4 months after I bought the 350X and prior to that, I had never seen a cast center.
LOL, now I wish I had bought them.....
EDIT - The reason I avoided them was I needed a set for the 250SX and I was afraid that 8" rims may not have cleared the SX brake drum.

Ok, so we have determined that for sure the cast center front wheel, and rears for that matter were standard on 86 350x's for sure. I noticed on the homepage that in the brochure section it does appear that the 86 200x had the same setup? But it may have been pulled back before production occured, or maybe shortly there after. So with that, are 86 350x front wheels the exact same in terms of dimension as the 85-86 250R. We would use the 250R hub on the 86 350x wheel in other words. I have access to a 86 350x wheel that is almost new and we would have it anodized gold if it wont create any problems. The cast center would give the bike a bit of difference from other 250R's especially when anodized. Thanks
