As some of you know i was looking at a possible flat tracker up in washington so... here it goes. I was so shocked that no one else jumped on it. It was in washington so i did have to drive a few hours each way but it was well worth it! I bought it from the 2nd owner and he bought it from the original owner known as Doug Mayer! I dont know him but he supposebly was a huge flat track racer and he traveled all over the USA!?!? His race number i believe was #13, even though the plate now reads #1. I have his phone number so i called him and left him a message...hopefully he will get back to me! So his setup was this 1985 250r. It has lots and lots of aftermarket stuff and im just now trying to identify everything. So heres what ive found so far about the bike aftermarket wise:Short Track kit, Aftermarket front springs, Answer bars, Honda bar pad, Aftermarket twist throttle, Race clutch, maier low pro fenders, k&n air filter w/outerwear, Bigger carb, Paul turner racing pipe, HRC silencer?, Port/polished head, Rebuilt motor w/only 10hrs, Aftermarket spring on stock shock, aftermarket swingarm?, +4 axle and super turf armstrong tires. Then i got a huge box full of other parts stock and aftermarket like axle, springs, hoses, gaskets, 2 pipes 1 stock other is a dg, 3 silencers 1 is fmf other 2 are unknown, 3 different sets of pegs (all different heights), a couple skid plates, lots of stock stuff for the tank and radiator mounts, A huge tool box full of chains and both front a rear sprockets also labled (maybe used for different tracks?)!, a front number plate :w00t:, and finally but not least my favorite part the rear shock! It reads WP Super Adjustible and the anidized look tops it off. Well it sure runs good and this is my first 250r (I have owned everthing except) so a few pointers would be nice! I dont know what im going to do with the darn thing? I dont race and its not really sutible for the trails? I could take it to the sand? idk i do know that at our local fair grounds there are some flat track races and a vintage class specificly designed for 3 wheelers...maybe i will test it out? If anyone knows anything about this bike let me know. Also let me know if you see any otheer hidden parts on the bike. I just looked it over real quick. Thanks ok enough blabbin here are the pics. Sorry the pics arnt very good due to my cell phone so tomarrow when it hopefully stops raining i will get out the good camera!

The 250R would be a great trail machine.Just have to do a few things to it first.

I would slowly restore it and ride it at the same time.

I would ride it! Don't let it set and collect dust.

Thanks guys i love it too! Yea it was an awesome christmas present to myself!

honda250sx-yes i did end up selling that mint 350x i had. I only had it for 2 weeks and i put it back on craigslist with a price that i didnt think would sell. It sold for $2475 i know i probably should of put it up on ebay...oh well i guess. The tires? idk i bet they are worth something? I have heard a few people talk about them.

the tecate kid- I know nothing about that shock...so you bought one? what did you pay for it? where they made for the 250r and do you have or know any info on the shock?

As SYKO once said to me "you sorry sack of dogs**t!"
Naw, sweet score man, I'm Tecate green with envy! That rear shock you posted a pic of looks identical to one that was on one of my old 200Xs when I was a kid. I know that one had used to be raced locally back in the day. I was only 15 and didn't know any better, I let it go for a pos snowmobile. Clean her up and go have some fun!

If he gets back in touch with you invite him to the forums. That's a great peice of ATC history you scored there! Take care of it!

If this story plays out I'd sent that right to mike at vintage motorsports for a ground up resto! that is a museum piece IMO.

The shock is a White Power. Very popular in the 80's. I gave around $350.00 for mine. It is being gone over as we speak, heart transplant and fresh powder coat for the spring.

Dang if the rain and snow would let up id be able to wash her up and take some better pics with the our digital camera! Hopefully tomorrow! Boy that paul turner pipe sure sounds good! Does anyone know anything about the pipes or silencers i got with this?

RoscoW
12-26-2007, 11:00 PM
The Paul Turner pipe is a older one from the 80's before thy started lableing which type they were in the steel name tag (ie hi-rev, type 6). The silencers are a good mix.
The left one is FMF, power core or turbine core if it has a built in spark arrestor. The middle one looks exactly like my Coffman's silencer. Mine has a plastic logo with their name on it but the shape and hanger are the same. The one on the right looks the same as my brothers, has a big snap ring on the end to remove the core for repacking?, really nice tig welds on the hangers?. I thought it was an answer product but not sure, does sound sweet though.

One on the left is the Coffman's, one on the right is the Answer
