View Full Version : Low voltage on the R! Is this the cause?

Alright, I've been fighting a midrange and topend sputter since I've owned my R and can't figure it out. I checked the voltage while running and its only putting out 11.5volts. The books says it should be 13.5-14.5 volts and to check the regulator if it isn't. I tried to check it on my meter, but it gives me O.L. Not sure if my meter can measure it or not. I know the cdi is transiterized and my fluke couldn't give readings for it, is the ac regulator transiterized too? Anyways, is the low voltage caused by the ac regulator or the stator? And last, could this cause my sputtering??

yes they very well may be your problem. the ac regualtor is there to prevent power surges to your lights. normally when a cdi box goes...it goes it either works or dose not work. most likly it is your stator it is either going bad or it could be your ignition coil.

whats the chances of the 350x and 250r a/c regulator being the same ???
if they are,,, i have a couple of em kimmer

My ohm reading on the stator was 115 which the book says 50-200 is good and the coil was alright too. Not sure on the regulator. Would it be the stator or ac regulator causing the low voltage?
