The best thing to do in this case would be to buy a manual. Their worth their weight in gold:D

My 83 and ny sisters 83 both lost 3rd gear a couple years back, I ended up buying a whole trans off ebay. My bike was just a fork (mostly) and the lobes on that gear and the meshing gear. I just replaced the parts that were worn on that one. The other one was out of an older model (82) and i replaced all the gears and forks.
The only problem i had was my flywheel wouldnt come off, invest in the ACTUAL! puller it will save you a ton, plus leave the nut on the end of the crank (minus thrust washer) and it will save the threads on your crank ( I learned the hard way)
Any other questions feel free to ask, i have done this three times and i have both the factory and the Clymer manual for reference
Good luck

do you think you could scan the pages out of your manual that shows the trans blown apart

I actually dont have a scanner, but i use to use bikebandit.com microfiche for exploded veiws. The manuals (clymer/haynes) are about $25 well worth the investment. I preffer the clymer, the haynes i have for my truck is very brief

you should be able to pick the clymer up at any dealer or parts shop. Heck i think GI joes sells them here.
The Honda one is probably going to be a Honda item, so your honda dealer
I got mine from my cycle salvage (honda one) and on ebay (clymer)
