today i tore into my engine on my 86 t3 to replace the crank seals. as i started to tear it apart i noticed that the shifter had been welded on and the drive sproket shaft splines were shot so i switched them with the ones out of my spare 85 t3 motor then i split the cases and found the crank bearings had seen beter days and the clutch shaft that the cable pulls on was broke at the botton where the lock bolt holds it into the cases.:confused: i looked at the one on the 85 but its different. i will call around tomorow to see if i can find one but i have a feeling its going to be tuff.:( other tthan that the engine seems pretty sound hopefully i can find the parts i need to get it back together. im going to polish the bottom end cases and bead blast the jug and head i think it will look beter than the stock black engine.:)
