seat color question

What is the proper seat color for the Red 1984 Tecate? Mine has an actual OEM Tecate seat with the ridges in it, but it's blue. However, every pic I've seen of the red one seems to have a black seat. Was the blue on the green model or was it on the '85 or what?

From all the research Ive done 84 red tecates had a black seat and the 85 red tecate had a blue seat. I'm sure over the years swaps may have occurred.

The red 85 T3 I had was a blue seat , My buddy had a red 84 T3 with a black seat

OK, thanks guys. I haven't had a bunch of time to really go over the Tecate (it's in my storage unit), but seeing as it has a front drum brake and the gas tank has the '84 stickers on it, I'd wager that it's an '84 with the '85 seat on it.

Does anyone have a pic of a red '85?? I don't think I've ever seen one. I'd be curious to see what a new (or restored) one looks like.

Also does anyone know about Kawasaki serial numbers to determine the year? I only know about Honda serials.

Although now that I think of it, and after doing a search, the '85s had silver rims and forms, correct? Mine must be an '84.

85 had silver rims and forks , front disk brake , also tank stickers are diff . 84 had gold rims and forks , drum front brake .

Was the '85 model actually available in red? Or was it just green for '85? I'm not sure if I should make it more like an '85 or keep it with the gold forks, swinger and lables from an '84. Problem is, as I said, my seat is blue.

All 84's had the black seat, and all 85's had the blue seat. Red and green were available in 84-85. 86 up all green. Whats the frame #? It will tell you for sure. There were many small changes in frame between 84-85. As well as rear suspension pivot arm and dog bone.

Problem is, as I said, my seat is blue.

How is that a problem?
