Bringing plastics back to life?

This is off of my ALT50 I just picked up. I would just buy a replacement but can't find one anywhere. Any one know if this is savable? Is there any cleaner that will take off the crap on there? As you can see behind the sticker is mint. I am thinking about sanding it?
