Hello everyone,

I just bought a 1982 200e that needs a top end. I was pulling it apart when the bad news started. The piston rings just feel apart. The bottom of the piston is a light gold color. Needless to say I think it over heated big time. Are these signs of a over heated engine? My next biggest questions is for the crank. The rod does have some play in it. I compared it to a 200s bottom end, and it has noticeable more. How much play is acceptable if any? It moves about a 10th of a centimeter. Any help or suggested would be greatly appreciated. This bike only had 30 psi.

Thanks, Adam.

Is that play in the crank up-and-down or side-to-side?

Side to side. It seems solid up and down.

I just went and checked and it only move side to side. It does not move at all up and down. This is good news. How do you guys recommend I flush the engine out. I thought about just pulling the oil plug and pouring gas or diesel through it, then maybe some oil. What do you guys think?
