1984 ATC200ES Big Red - lights don't work when engine running without battery. Lights do work when battery installed, engine running or not (light switch and key switch work correctly).
Checked for continuity between the two yellow wires coming from stator - continuity present.
Checked each yellow wire from stator to ground - no connection. Only Clymer manual I have (for older models like 1983) says there should be (seems wierd).
Checked and traced all wiring, seems okay, saw in Dennis Kirk that stator is the same for ATC185, am pulling one out of a spare 185 engine to try.
Am I on the right track?
