View Full Version : 81 250r
WELL I THINK I FOUND A GOOD DEAL ON A 250R. BRAKES ARE SHOT, PLASTICS ARE SHOT, TIRES ARE SHOT, BEARINGS ARE SHOT BUT IT RUNS. I SUPPOSE TO BE PICKING IT UP REALLY CHEAP. JUST WHEN I HAVE GIVIN UP ON A CHEAP TOY THIS ONE FOUND ME.

barry_mann, glad to see you found project! :-D As for cheap..... original purchase price may be cheap, but end result maybe not so much! Seems like it never ends, but in the end it's all worth it!
Good luck, Al
well ipicked it up this morning. it has a 200x forks and front tire with 200x plastics but has the 250r tank. it was dusty. cranked up with a little gas in the carb. sounded pretty strong. the guy i bought it from said it needs rings because it keeps fowling out plugs, but that dont make sense on a 2 stroke. the tires are all shot and the brakes were handed to me in a bag (totaly disaembled) i got it for 100.00 bucks. what i need is someone to scan a couple of pages on brakes for me so i can figure out how to put them on. i will post pics but i havnt got it out of the truck yet.
The reason it's fouling plugs is most likely jetting. I've never heard of bad rings fouling plugs?? Go to partsfish.com and look up the diagrams, prob the easiest way to see them if you can't just look at them and figure them out. Sounds like one hell of a deal dude! Congrats!
that more what i was thinking. i tried to post a pic but said it was too large. i definatly dont need a top end. ijust boiled the only good tire off of the rim.

Boiled the tire off the rim???? I know it seems pretty tough starting out. When I bought my Tri Z about 1 month ago it was all in boxes. I never even got to start it up. Everything was so full of crud it looked like crap. I spent 1 hour just cleaning the rear shock.
The best thing I did first was just take the frame to get painted. From there I felt like I had a clean slate to start with. I thought....ok...now just make sure everything else you put on the bike looks almost as good or don't put it on.
Since i had never assembled or disassembled the bike I did not know what went were (other than pics and such) but I kept trying and it is going nicely.
DONT GIVE IT...it may be expensive...but it is worth it!
