I just posted a classified "looking for dirtbike" and GOD answered my ad. A friend just told me there is a BW200 down the road so I stopped and took a gander. The guy was not home, but I think the ceiling is $200 on this bike. I have no info.
What is the top dollar you would pay? I am just trying to see if I am being unreasonable in my highest bid. It is nasty and the rear tire looks flat. The front tire is surpringly holding air with those monstor crack?

87 or 88 I think was the 2 years those were made, I'd offer 200, looks complete, easy to get running w/ a carb o/haul & fluid changes........

That's an 85. Kickstart only. Looks complete. Rack was a nice option. About average shape, a little cosmetic clean-up. Rear tires can still be found on ebay and dealership. Alot of parts available from the yammi dealer. The big deal would be if the engine is seized or not. $500 would be a good deal, less would be a great deal.

Looks like a pretty good Big Wheel to me......the most important thing is if that motor is seized. The bike is complete........ doesn't look like its been beat on....... just weathered. Things like chains, sprockets, tires are all easy to find. I would just make sure it kicks over. Double check the tranny. i'd give the guy 200 bucks right now...... whether it kicks or not....... the parts are worth more than that. Cool rack too. I say go for it!

Im getting hyped up about it - I wish the guy would come home. I have friend coming to town in a few and he is going to call me if someone is home.
500? Pat, your pockets are much deeper than mine... Am I being that stingy?
yea, threes, I am willing to offer 200 even if it is siezed.

Vealmonkey beat me to it.
Its a 1985 BW 200N.
The only other 200 that had kickstart only was the 1986 BW200S, but the decals were different.
The only place the year is printed is on the exhaust/muffler db info sticker located on the front of the steering stem right north of the vin number. See pic.
If the engine has good compression and doesn't smoke, then $200 would be a great buy. It will clean up nice. Get those plastics back to white, and with a good motor (no smoke) it would go for $1000+. I would get it.
BTW-Looks like the front boot seals are leaky.
That rack is worth half of your $200 dollars by itself.

thanks Rusty... I am raising the bar to $300 or so - maybe 5 or 6 if it runs good (smoke or not)
By looking at the surrounding area I would say the guy does not have the resources to mess with it and I may get it cheap. No telling tho, because this is AR and I have seen millionaires live in barns...

Check your oil and lube your jackshaft right away. Also look at the air cleaner element ASAP. Chances are its not oiled, and is even falling apart from sitting. Dont want to suck any crap into a perfectly good engine. New elements are still available.
There is a demand for ones in good shape up here. Good luck. Hope it turns out good. Hey, maybe he'll tell you just to take it away. lol

Sorry for the multiple comments.
Hey vealmonkey, did you find another muffler that would fit?? The innerds to my muffler became unwelded and are just rattling around inside right now. Plus the baffle is cut out a little, makin it dang loud.

I have the muffler that I took off mine but it has no spark arrestor, just a piece of metal someone poked holes in. You can have it if you want. It isn't god awful loud, but louder than stock. I thinking a slightly modified supertrapp muffler or cutting the tab off the pro-tec header and using one of those muffler clamp combo pieces will work. I still have some pieces that I have to put on the bike, new tire and clutch side cover. Also, I'm looking for a piece inside my air filter that is discontinued. It is a little metal tab with 2 holes in it that attaches over the filter cage and gets held in place by a setscrew that goes through from the outside of the filter box. And I really like the tri-z front end with disc brake too.

I just talked to the guy and he says he has a couple more of them but he said he did not want to get rid of it. He acted like he was as high as a kite!
How unfortunate. I don't think he is able to maintain it or take care of it.
I gave him my number so maybe he will call with a change of mind. I will check back eventually and see if he is singing a different tune.

Hey Jef, I could use a couple of airbox parts if the guy has some parts for sale. It's just the goofy little stuff and it is really 1 part that I don't have but if he had a good airbox for parts I would take the whole box. And the electric start airboxes are different, but not sure about the internals. The front tire on those is the same as the tri z and the later 250r dunlop tire.

Some of you may thing I am off my rocker - but I talked him into giving up the bike. I loaded up the wifes bike and took it over there
http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=71481 The 200 engine is probably fine - looks like someone messed with the carb and lost the choke. The engine turns over and has compression. It is not as bad as I thought.
As I was driving thru town I sniffed out a blue 110 sitting in the bushes behind someones house...
I gave the guy a set of SBC valve covers and $10 and threw it on the truck with the BW200.
Win some, lose some. The blue 110 is pretty rough and the plastics are all busted up  but neat stuff like mudflaps are still on it.
I will try to get :pics: soon.

Thanks for talking him out of an extra airbox for me. I got almost a complete front end too that needs a home for the couple little trinkets I needed.

insert foot please...
I tried. I told you I would. He supposedly has more BW's but they are complete - no parts. Did I see them? No...
Hell, I will be lucky if I got an airbox on this rag
I will keep an eye out for ya.
Hey - is that a good front tire? I need one pretty bad....

The front tire I had to put on the tri z front end. The front wheel and tire is the same as the tri z. Later model 250r tire is the same.

yea :naughty: cuz she just got a 85 250es. She wanted a BR but I all I had was a 200 so I built it for her. I found a BR and there were too many trikes in the house so the 200 was up for adoption. Since we have a BW80 and I am looking for a BW350 I thought "get the BW200" and have one each. She will probably ride this bike as much as I will

Dam, would have been a nice score. EDIT - guess you got it??!!
I have a nearby neighbor with a CT racing 200X, it has now sat outside for 8 years and he won't sell it - STUPID!!!!!

Looks like this one sat under a tree for a decade.. but I started cleaning and found a little bit of plastic under all that mess. The choke is out of the carb - it won't run like that will it?
The rear tire is a 22-11-9, has anyone put a 25 under the rear end of one of these? I can't wait to get time enough to finish cleaning it up and get it running.
Your neighboors a dummy DC - I thought I was going to have to beat this guy and burn his trailer down to get the BW!!

I am not used to this Yamaha parts business. Honda parts are everywhere - this is much harder.
