my OLDEST trike...

I was moving more stuff around and had my camera. Here is the oldest trike in my collection, It's a restored 1939 John Deere Model B. It's the first year of the styled Deere's. No lights, or starter. She's a hand crank only, and starts on the second or third turn even after sitting for 2 years.

VERY COOL styled B!!!! I love the old 2 cylinder Johnny Poppers, I have a 1939 John Deere LA myself and a 2 cylinder Hercules motor to a Deere combine. I like a lot of different tractors, but NOTHING sounds quite like an old 2 cylinder Deere pop pop pop pop, haha. Love the hand crank thats the same as found on the LA. We had a styled B and unstyled on our farm, along with an H, a 60 and a 70. That tractor looks great man, very nice job on the restore.

I actually found a 1937 unstyled B in my area I'm looking at getting, but its a total rebuild, heads gone, steering post is rotted, wheels rotted, rubber gone, its rough but in a strange way it makes me want to get it just to save it from dying back in the woods. Anyways, beautiful B you got there, I'll try and get a pic of some of our Deeres up when I get a chance. Got any other Deeres, tractors?

I was just looking at the picture, I dont see many B's around here with fenders, I want to say thats an orchard model but it seems high for that, are those original? Also that seems like a very thick tire up front, is that something from another year or model or maybe those just arent as common around here? very cool...

That's a nice piece there! I am looking for an old M to fix up. My uncle has one that I use when I need to use the box blade. That old tractor when idle so slooooow. The flywheel is so heavy it is cool to hear it POP......................POP...................... .POP.............................POP. LOL It sounds like there is 20 seconds between the pops. And with very little maintenance, they will run forever. His is converted to 12 volt and has the three point hitch on it. It is so easy to grate dirt with the hydro right between your legs.

thats a nice lookin tractor, allthough i'm more of a farmall guy. My father and I have probably around 25-30 old farmalls, with atleast half of them running or close to it. If i can find pics of it I've got a few pics of me pulling on our 1940 farmall M "Three wheeler". We actually just cut off one front wheel Because we made a puller out of it and we needed to drop the weight. Its pretty competitive in the #4500 class.

i was gonna restore an old farmall i found at the dumps but when i went to get it kids smashed the hell outta it, and it made me mad becasue i love vintage tractors, im even on a forum, yesterdaystractors.com if you never heard of it go to the forum its great!

Boy do I have questions for you:lol: I dont know too many people that are knowledgable on the L series so I might send you a few questions as I get them. I only recently acquired this so I dont know much about it other than its a 1939 L-La, I do know that it is styled unlike some of the earlier ones and I beleive the frame rails are hollow now that I think of it. It was my grandpa's when he was alive, and from what he and others told me it has parts from both L and La, so that might be why I thought it was the La. It needs paint but she still runs good, I'll have to post up some pics. Thanks for the info Dustin!

hey Hondahaulic, post up some pics of those evil red machines, haha. We have a 1959 IH 350 utility and its a great tractor. I've also found what I think might be a steal on a Farmall H that I gotta make happen, but thats another color tractor for another day and another thread haha.

edit: not to change the topic, but its somewhat related, any of you guys ever come across any John Deere hit and miss stationary engines? Or any hit n miss for that matter, but I really want an old Deere model E. figured this would be the only post on 3ww where it would be appropriate to mention haha

Chevy it sounds like you have a 1939 styled L .Does it have one piece rear wheels or does it have rims with cast iron centers ?

hey Hondahaulic, post up some pics of those evil red machines, haha. We have a 1959 IH 350 utility and its a great tractor. I've also found what I think might be a steal on a Farmall H that I gotta make happen, but thats another color tractor for another day and another thread haha.

sorry but I just figured out that our scanner isnt working anymore, and all the pics i have are non-digital lol. those 350 utilitys are pretty handy tractors, perfect for mowers and stuff. I just did a count in my head and we have 6+ old F-20s, an old regular, 5 Ms, an H, a super m, a super H that my great grandpa bought new, super c, b, wd-9, 400, 450, a handfull of half complete parts tractors, plus a couple more Im sure I forgot. Quite a few of them still get frequently used on the farm for smaller jobs and only a few are painted up decent. Any other pullers out there? Ive just done a few pulls in stock classes on an M and it can be a pretty fun hobby.

Around Colorado it mostly big and flat. Most of the farm tractors around here in the 30's - the 50's had narrow fronts. The front tire that was used was the wide sidle insted of the dual narrows (like the rollamatic) as most were used for cultivating. The wider tire kept the tractor from digging when you turned. The front tire is the original tire, and still holds air.

The fenders are original and rare, most farmers didn't want to pay the extra $23. The tractor doesn't have any hydraulics ( they were even availible yet). The tractors also is a dual tank distillate model, and can start on gas (the small tank) then switch to the alcohol.

I aslo have have a '51 model B that was my grandpa's, new, that needs to be restored, a Farmall Super A, also my grandpa's and a '69 Minnieapolis Moline Jet Star ( has hood scoops like a '69 GTO) waiting for work. My dad has a Farmall T-20 Track crawler that I'd like to have.

I came from a row crop farm and dairy family. I spent a lot of summers going up and down rows. Most of my family still farms. I just do it for a hobby ( the hardest hobby I have).

I see, that makes sense then around here we have the narrow fronts too but they seem to be more often the dual narrows. Our 2510 has the roll-o-matic front end, it does tend to dig in on sharp turns so I can see why the single front tire would be better for that. I love the narrow front ends because you can turn them on a dime, and if you lock up the brake when your turning its awesome what kind of manuevers you can make.

Cool on the fenders and the dual tank, that is a very specialized and unique tractor you've got there, and its good to see it restored too. Speaking of rare tractors and such, any of you guys ever heard of a tractor company named Huber? My buddy (he's HerculesEngine) on the boards here recently got one and is in the process of restoring it. Its pretty cool becuase there werent too many made and they are hard to find. Another machine I would like to find would be a Lindeman crawler B, along with a John Deere R and a Model 60.

Nice Deere bigbore. I live on a dairy farm and we have a Super M. I love to drive this tractor. He is not original ( 12 volts, bigger tires and rebuild front axle) but it is great to pull a trailer. I also own a Massey-Harris Pony :lol: Now, i have to rebuild the carb and it would be good to go. I will try to get some pics. Keep them coming guys!!!!!
