I am a proud new owner of an '85 Honda 250sx. found this baby sittin on the side of the road they were gonna just throw it away so i saved her and the old man that threw it was even nice enough to come outside and give the factory book, key, and a battery for it. so check out the pics and let me know what you think about my free trike.

That just adds to the air of mystery. Most people I meet are really, uh shall we say, stingy. They will ask huge sums of money for a ragged out, junk machine. Hell, a guy was trying to get me to pay 1600 for a Tri-Z that was missing more than half the stuff on it.
This guy seems to be throwing out a very good condition machine for free. And he even took the time to get you the battery and booklet for it.
:wondering
Strange.

yea i know trust me, but he is old and he said he was just tired of it sitting around and he doesnt really have any friends or family close by to give it to so he put it to the road. he said he knew someone would probably stop and pic it up. anyways i swear to it believe it or not.

Great find nonetheless. Everybody on this site dreams of this kind of chance encounter!
I personally have wet dreams about driving down the road and spotting a mint condition 86 250R sitting there. Preferably with a hot chick on the seat.

What a find man! CONGRATS TO YOU !!!
DJPrelude, do you realize you have, I think??, a trick oil cooler on that below the headlight.
Can you give real detailed pic's of that, how it's attached, hook up lines to engine and all ?
In some of the pic's I can clearly see the hook up lines, one on each side at bottom . :wondering I don't understand at all where they would attach though or how they would flex proper (not to crimp at all) while turning :wondering
If it works real well that's a cool set up, find out if you can what that oil cooler (if I'm right about all this) is off of.
Never ever saw that on a SX , nor has anyone else I'm sure.
Dammit!

I was just going to ask if anybody else thought the tank looked plastic.
Either way, it looks like you got one hell of a deal!

Well, are you going to post detailed pic's of it ?
I don't think it is aftermarket at all, I think it's just something off another machine that the guy rigged up, you better make sure all the hoses/connections are fine because if that leaks or breaks, there goes your oil and the whole motor:eek:
Be real interesting if you could find out what exactly that cooler is off of.
Sort of odd that someone did that though because the SX really has no overheating problems but if it's rigged on there nice, I'm sure it helps keep the engine running a bit cooler for sure.

That's definitely rednex engineering! Is that safety wire wrapped around the core?
DJPrelude

i dont know if i should take it off though i would think that they wouldve put it there for a reason. and it bolts right underneath the headlight and fits perfectly.
i guess im gonna have to go ask that old man why they did it and where it came from cause i think he was the original owner
