It's My Turn.......250R

I picked up this 1984 250r roller today:naughty: . As you can see it needs a motor and some tlc. By the way I will be looking for a motor and exhaust so let me know if you have one.
It's sitting low because the rear shock isn't bolted at the top. I also had this same year 250r back in '86-'87. Everyone is always wanting pics, so here they are.

Doesnt look too bad, although I wonder what the point of the headlight facing down is,,,doesnt seem like it would do its job very well?? :crazy:

those are old dick cepeck tires, want to get rid of them?

edit: I see they say sand tires unlimited on them now, so im not sure, but they sure have the same pattern as those old dick cepeck tires.

I'm not worried about the tires right now, I'm mainly going to be looking for a motor and exhaust. And lots of advice down the road. I have my sons atc70 to finish, then do a top end on my warrior. So the R is third in line. The seat and tank are in good shape and the rear fenders have a nasty crack as you can see.
Its going to be a RIDER and not a show piece so I'm just looking for what I need to get her running.
Are the 81-84 air coolers the exact same motors? I would rather find an '84 motor if I can. I hate those red motors, but I guess they can be painted.

Edit: By the way I paid $150, but $25 of that was for the guy to drive an hour and a half to meet me. He's also going to mail me the oem airbox/uni-filter. He had a bottom end for it but I didn't like the price.

ANOTHER EDIT: Are there any parts from an xr500r that would fit?

i have a 83/84 exhaust (no silencer) in pretty good shape. it was a wrongly listed on ebay as a 81/82. its been hanging in the shed ever since.:rolleyes: . if your ever gonna be in the covington area give me a p.m. maybe we can meet up. you can have it.
