Now that the days are shorter, i've been riding alot at night... and i never really thought about it until i ran out of gas yesterday, luckily it has reserve, and i was kinda worried cause i was in the woods and didn't have anything but a spark plug and sparkplug wrench...
So what do you guys pack in your three wheeler tool box or coat?

I dont carry a whole lot in the raptor besides the stock tool kit, because of space. but in the big red i have a whole tool box.
-common metric wrenches
-spark plug socket wrench
-electrical tape
-spare fuses
-valve cores and valve core tool
-extra plugs
-zip ties
-locking pliers
-plug kit for tires
-wire
-cotter keys for hubs
-few spare nuts and bolts
-screw drivers
think thats all
Well, seeing as you have an X, you have the same problem as I do with the R. There's really no good place to put anything. I just have my tools in my toolbox and that's about it. I really ought to care tire repair stuff. The last place I went was SUPER rocky. And if you're riding at night, I'd want a flashlight incase the thing dies on you.
Dammit!

I have always used a simple fanny pack wrapped around the handlebars on my R. Works fine. I have tools, jets, two spark plugs, a small flashlight and a GPS in there.
Edit: added a pic. you can see it above the headlight.

Dammit!, why jets?? u can't really change jets out in the woods... why would u??? or do u travel to go riding alot and altitude messes with your jetting???
so far i have...
flashlight,
tire kit (plugs + tools)
screwdriver/valve core puller
valve cores
plug socket
masterlinks
plug

Extra jets have always been part of my tool pack. It's easy to change the main on a 250R out in the dunes/woods/wherever.

Night riding is my favorite:w00t: I always have my back pack with me. In there I carry some tools, plugs, chain, beer, more beer, my strap-on headlight, and a few articles of clothes. I also have a few snacks in there in case I need a gronola bar or something. :)

all you need is a backpack through all your crap in one pocket and a 6 pack in the other and you should be good for a late night of riding!

Well on mine I carry lots. But keep in mind I/we ride forest trails and high desert trails and go back miles from the rigs
and other people and camp most of the time:
1. A flash light that has air compressor/lantern light (Led voltage)/spot light and cigrate lighter charger. Holds full charge for almost 24 hours on Lantern.
2. Set of small hand tools, wrenches, screw drivers, small hammer
3. A voltage light tester/digital multimeter.
4. Small pen size can of WD40.
5. A couple little flints.
6. Small Handgun. (Begining of 08' we'll purchase)
7. Some water.
8. A 2" x 50' tow strap.
9. Nice big guttin' knife.
10. And some fishing stuff. *Mandatory*
11. Matches. ( In case I'm in a hurry to cook my fish :) )
Wife 250 Trail boss caries:
1. Blankets, pillows, blow up bed. (Yes I use a blow bed when camping See 1 above for airing it up!)
2. First Aid kit, snake, cuts, bites, repellents and some rubbing alcohol.
3. Food/Water.
4. Toilet paper.. cause I am not wipeing my crack with a leaf!!
5. Tent.

i dont carry anything in my bike tool box, because its so small on my 200x. but when ever i go riding i take a cardboard box that consists of:
- tire plug kit
- spark plugs
- adjustable wrench
- shop rags
- 3/8" ratchet
- spark plug socket
- razor blades
- screw drivers
- plyers
- tire pump
- tow rope

On the utility trikes its no problem to carry extra gear, plus they have the built in toolkits and little trunks in the back. When you are desperate, you can fit a lot of stuff in there.
I feel with you though, as I have the same problem on the R. No easy place to store stuff. My little toolbox is missing like so many r's. I have:
1. Small fanny pack I strap around the front fender
or
2. Small camel pack with couple extra storage compartments on it.
Usually take:
Registration
Spare spark plugs (2)
OEM based tool pack (spark plug wrench, etc...)
Bristled Brush for cleaning Sprk Plgs
Toilet Paper
Water
Tire Patch/Repair Kit
Foot Pump
flashlight (w/ xtra batts.)
leatherman
granola bar or two
Rag or papertowel
Rope
other misc. items
also take extra clothing, gloves, hand warmers, and whatnot depending on the weather.
For night time I have a headlamp that I can mount on my helmet under the top visor. It also has a couple little red lights on the back of the helmet too.

No light for me so I dont do alot of night riding unless I have to get home or something! but thats what my cell phone is for, and usually its pretty bright out at night here. But it sucks that it gets dark at 5:30 these days. I get home from school and have about an hour to ride so it kind of sucks. But anyway I usually carry a small plastic toolbox in my prm 6 pack rack with the following:
crescent wrench
needle nose pliers
3/8 ratched and sockets
screw drivers
flashlight
lighter
dry gloves
zipties
electrical tape
ducttape
tow strap on the outside of the rack
few extra masterlinks and a spare chain
random assorted bolts and nuts
blue loctite
small can of wd40
10w-40 oil
couple extra hub nuts (mine seem to fall off alot!)
allen wrenches
cotter pins
tire plugs
box cutter
wire
tube of grease
Thats basically all. And me or my friends have had to use all of them at least once. Especially the grease for me though. My carrier isnt exactly water proof for some reason so over a long time some water gets in and it starts to squeak badly. So either its $100 for some new timken bearings or a trail repair, and usually its the trail repair!

I usually dont take much. The 350X does not have a tool box so I like to take a backpack with gear. All my hardtails have the little trunks, so I keep them stocked.
Flashlight
Tow strap
Munchies and water
Knife
Cell Phone
Spanner Wrench (350X)
12mm socket and wrench (Any)
17mm wrench ( Hardtails)
Wire or parachute cord (never know what you may have to tie up, muffler, etc...)
Quart of oil (any)
Duct Tape (never leave home without it!!)
and other little odds and ends.

Breakdown? Dunno what one is. I ride Honda!
Suppose if neccessary I don't need a torch, just slip the headlight off the Bigred.
