I agree, and we have contacted Maier. There are no molds, and he wants at least 1000 bucks to reproduce the molds, and 25 sets ordered at my cost.
That comes to a grand total of 2500 bucks at the very least for rad shrouds.

mrs. m have you dealt with ufo at all...i would think it worth a try...
Mrs.Mosh
11-20-2007, 09:26 PM
It is something I would check into. But I wonder if they will be the dull type plastic like the old Maier.
However,I am not a dealer for UFO.
I will look into it if you and more would like to buy.
You know he will want a minumum order.
I will reply back as soon as I get a answer.

Have you seen the shrouds Derrick Adams is running on his TriZ 450? If noone is willing to make the stockers this may be an alternative for you tri z guys.
Or.. you can see if DC plastics on ebay is willing to give it a shot. The only problem there is finding someone thats willing to give up their shrouds for a few months.

$2500? Thats it to end all this tri-z shroud business? shiznit, who's up for a business investment? I'll pony up half of that, I'm young dumb, and just paid down all but a lil' bit of any debt I had.

Ill take multiple sets if there gonna make them for $50 see about color choices also
Mrs.Mosh
11-24-2007, 10:54 AM
We were going to do the TRI-Z shrouds, headlights and airbox covers in Febuary. All colors, including Carbon Fiber. All From Maier.
Anyone want in on this?
I will try to finalize the pricing.
I have to order,25 sets of shrouds, broke into groups of 5 for different colors
same with the airbox covers and headlights.
Mrs.Mosh
11-24-2007, 11:01 AM
I am working to get the 86 250R headlights reproduced too.In Carbon Fiber.Right Now.That is why I am waiting til Febuary for the z stuff.
If you want the z Shrouds now, lets get a list and prepay order for them.We need at least 25 shroud orders to start.I will send in all the plastics to copy from.

:beer :beer YES MAM! Yamaha Blue?:DYes we will need to order 5 blue sets to get them done.
Also keep in mind,If you want matched front and rear fenders, those will have to be ordered in sets of 10 in a seperate deal.I will see if they will make an exception with a huge order.

This certainly is exciting news! The minimum order deal sucks.. but I think you'll have no problem finding tri z guys to climb aboard.
I wonder if we could get guys intrested in diffrent color 350x plastics,, headlight shells in particuliar.
Why do you HAVE to order the blue? or is this just something everyone is intrested in?
Louis Mielke
11-24-2007, 01:14 PM
I'm all over the yamaha blue, we could use rear banshee fenders for the rear that would leave the front fender.
Mrs.Mosh
11-24-2007, 01:22 PM
I'm all over the yamaha blue, we could use rear banshee fenders for the rear that would leave the front fender.
Good thinkin.I think Derrick said he had to modify his TRI-Z seat pan to fit those banshee new style fenders. So some would have to take that into consideration.
And it would not be that costly to run 250R blue fronts(again) or TRI-Z blue fronts also.
We can get the ball rolling anytime guys.IF you want me to handle it,I am all for it.
Mrs.Mosh

Why do you HAVE to order the blue? or is this just something everyone is intrested in?We do not have to order blue.I wanted them to do at least yellow black and red stuff, for the original look. Then we can come up with some custom colors too.Like Blue,Green,Carbon fiber.Etc.
Here is the deal with Maier.
Anything currently in production,ie:250r 350x front and rear fenders, etc,Has to be ordered in sets of 10 to get a new color.
They will not break up a set of 10 custom colors into 5 purple,5 green Etc.
They have to be ordered 10 at a time.
Any molds they do not have,They charge a set-up fee for the mold, require a good copy to use and a minium of 25 sets have to be run from a new mold.Or any order thereafter.
But in that first 25 order run on a new mold,You have to get 10 of 1 color, and then they will split into groups of 5 on custom colors. This is what I have been told by Them while inquiring about the Z plastic.
Always remeber that custom colors are subject to a higher rate of cost, like the carbon fiber for example will cost more than just plain black or yellow.

I have dealt with Jeff of at MAIER Several Times and they Sponsor our Rampage....He is a Great guy to deal with....A few yrs back I asked about the molds....He told me that they still have the mold but wouldnt run them because of lack of interest.....He also told me he would sell me the molds for 900 and needed a minimum of 25 orders just like Mrs. M mentioned......If you would like......When I go pick up the Z front fender for the raffle Z they are Sponsoring I can ask more.....Kinda nice having them in my back yard:w00t:
Mrs.Mosh
11-24-2007, 03:40 PM
Well, someone is lying to me then.I have spent over 3 grand with Maier this year alone, and he tells me he does not have the molds.I am gonna call Monday and raise hell.Another major trike supporter has also called and was told the same thing as me.
mywifeknowseverything
11-24-2007, 03:50 PM
Dont Fly off the handle yet!!!!!! I might have Misunderstood him!!!!! But I do remember that it would be 900 to purchase his mold and then whatever else they told you was correct.....I dont remember him saying that I would have to furnish the plastic to make a mold though.....So that is why I think they have it.....Just doesnt make sense that they have all the other molds and not the headlight and Shrouds.....Maier is only a 30 min. drive from me.....Let me call him on Monday and ask.....
Mrs.Mosh
11-24-2007, 03:55 PM
I asked A LOT of questions while inquiring about the Z plastic. Not just the shrouds. He told me I would have to send in good peices of what I wanted to have the mold/s made for.
It probably was a mis-understanding, but I will find out. We primarily talked about the shrouds, but the rest of the plastic was also non-existant except the front and rear molds.
I'm not flying off the handle, just don't want to have to dish out MORE than what I was already told.

11-24-2007, 04:04 PM
Let me try to SHMOOSE him...... Maybe we can work something out.....However,,,,,,I will need some HARD numbers to work with.....If he DOES infact have the mold (At least for the Shrouds) and we have the numbers for him to run....Maybe we can get away from BUYING the mold.....That would SAVE TONS of money.......
I dont want to step on any toes here......Just tryin to help....
Oh and if you do get a hold of him before I do.....dont mention my name in the RANT.....I still need that Front Fender.....LMAO!!!!:welcome:  :w00t:
Mrs.Mosh
11-24-2007, 04:07 PM
Well it is what it is I guess.
I wont mention you and I dont have any rant.
I just dont like being misinformed on any matter.
Edit,I did not speak to Jeff.I spoke with Mark.
Maybe they dont have their ducks in a row.

Dont worry,The plastic airbox and headlights and scoops are on the way to Maier.
They never had any molds,so they have to make them.
I sent them in mint Oem peices to copy.
Once they get them and look them over, they will give me a final price.
He was worried about the headlight mold,He has to see if he can get the headlight lense retainers molded in properly.
We will see what he says.
The molds should be completed by January.
I am looking to have the peices out by March.

Sweet that ROCKS! Cant wait. Do we have any idea what colors we might be interested in as a group? I would be interested in Red and black in both.
Mrs.Mosh
11-30-2007, 06:18 PM
We are gonna have him run all the oem colors.
And I was thinking about Carbon Fiber, silver and blue.
Basically,we can take a vote for what you guys want and do them first, then always go back and run another batch later.

Excellent.
We really need a headcount here.Because,we have to get at least 25 sets of each item.So the more the interested, the better.
I will start a offical order list/post when the time nears.
So I guess chime in here if your definately down for some Z plastic.
You dont have to pay now,we just need a solid headcount.

I'm not too sure I like the UFO shrouds for the Tri-Z. I'm interested in hearing Bryan's take on how he likes his set. I would prefer a smooth surface myself. They are nice and pliable, but the surface looks like they were done in a wooden mold, or something.:wondering
You can count me in for anything made for the Z!:beer

No, it will be just like Seadoo's blue 250r.
Come to think about it...a black and blue Tri-Z with a silver or blue frame would look slick. Especially with some blue annodized bling here and there:naughty:

I'm pretty sure UFO plastic from the 80's was vacum formed, but in the 90's they switched over to injection molding.

I'm up for a set of red shrouds and a red airbox cover (then I'll need a seat cover to match from you). Of course pricing is important, but I'm up for it. Let's do this!!!
Thanks.
