Hey guys
Got casper fully tore down but I cant seem to get the rear axle carrier out, the odd thing is Ive had this apart before not 6 months ago. I replaced the o rings and bearings and seals in the housing, and for some reason...
itll tap out till about 3/4 of a inch is left (judging this by the TAB that allows the excentric to move around) and just stops 3/4 inch shy of the tab popping out. No more movement or nothing. I can tap it back in to the right and it slides in like nothing.
I did notice my o ring was shot and just floating around, could that be binding it up??
And I have the traditional swinger bolt seized, started spraying it with pent lube.
It will freely spin around, but will not hammer out-
Can I use a impact on the one side and hammer one the other while its turning?
Any clever ideas?
thanks alot

Did you take that center bolt out of the middle of the swingarm? It acts as a stopper on the carrier.

Yep all bolts are free and oot. Like I can see the lil tab and its SO close to coming out but for some reason it wont budge.
Im thinking the o ring near the brake side is shot and binding it up, and its hard to get out just with one person there. Gotta wait till my dad can help me!

If you're absolutely sure there's no bolts obstructing it, take a block of wood and hold it up to the end of the carrier then give it (the wood) a couple good wacks with the hammer. The wood will give keeping you from damaging the aluminum carrier.

Josh like said earlier It's probly the o-ring's rolling over & binding It up. Another thing Is the rubber plugs that slide Into the grooves neer the pinch bolts.
The swingarm bolts are always difficult on these damn R's. I swear by my air chizzel with a flat hammer bit, Once It starts to move one way I vibrate It that way then the other & you've got It. you can spin It with a Impact, because the bushings are rusted to the bolt. Anyway, I've heard all the criticizm about the air chizzel trick, so I hope to not hear It again. If you guys can't get them out with a hammer, I WILL get It with my trusty air chizzel. Not trying to be a smart ass, but It works everytime. Make sure you put the nut on the swinger bolt a few threads so you don't trash the threads. Good luck little buddy.

Stuck swingarm bolts are a major pain. I've had to cut 4 of them. Most of the tome the bolt is seized to the collars, making it so you can spin the bolt, put can't take it out. Unfornunity there isn't many options with the swingarm bolt: 1. spin the bolt while you hit it with a BRASS OR COPPER PUNCH, if it moves, lube it up, hit it back and repeat untill its out. 2. spread the frame and swingarm apart and fit a sawall or hacksaw in it and cut the bolt, do this on the other side, but first remove everything from the rear end, so its just the swingarm. Then take the swingarm to a machine shop and have them press everything apart and install new bearings/collar/seals. You can skip this step if you want hit the bolt/bearings and fight with it for some time. I did 3 swingarms like this and it wasn't fun at all. Remember when you reassamble everything, put a healthly coat of anti-sieze on them, this goes for the axle carrier too!!!!!
I tried my air chisel on 2 of them, it was a no go, I have heard that it works good. As it vibrates the rust loose, helping to break the rust/seizure. It didn't work for mine, but did for 2 of my friends on 400ex's.

My buddy had a MAC air chissel that took out EVERYTHING!! My crappy one gets about half of them out.
My carrier had a rolled o-ring too. I used 2 stubby screwdrivers and spread the swinger a bit then a brass punch got it right out....

I spread the frame and swinger apart and cut the bolt there. Remove the rear motor mount bolts and out comes the swinger. If you strip it down to just the swingarm, its alot less in the way.

Thanks for the help boys,
had to cut the bolt!
But we saved the motor mount and all that jazz. Casper is now but a faint whisp of a memory. Until she regains physical form.....
AND the carrier was stuck because it was flat spotted on the brake side excentric area. Dont know how or why but its an excuse to buy a billet one!
