Is there some special tool to install this rear 84R caliper o-ring # 34, I was going nuts trying to get it back in but finally did with two screw drivers.
I can't imagine a Honda mechanic doing it the same way ?
It was hard enough to get out but putting back in took 8 times as long.

Hmmm, I do it from the back side with the p brake off. There is always oxidized gunk in that groove that I clean out, then I grease up the oring and fold it into place. It likes to try and pop out when you push the piston back in so I grease that up too.

Yea, I cleaned the groove and grease it but thought the grease made it even harder to do, popped out easier (30 times or so:lol: ), I did it from the piston side though, because if you put the parking brake bolt in just flush with groove, it stops it from going out the other side.
I was really getting frustrated, would of had a beer but it's too early yet. :D

Thanks, lots of those tricks I do use except for removing the piston, that I just pump out with brake lever/pedal before I disconnect from line, you way works too though, my manual recommends both ways I think?
The freeze trick really helps on a lot of things .
I don't understand this part though " This unfolds the piston dust seal around the piston " so you mean with out the air it tends to want to fold over?

Next time, I'll try it that way but hope next time will be a long time from now.
Rebuilding these takes a lot of time, at least I know how to now.

Exactly what you should have done. That diagram looks exactly like the 83-85 200x caliper and I rebuild one of those. If you take that #10 part off it is very easy to do.

Yea, I said, next time I'll try it that way, I had it off at one time but didn't think it would make much difference, I have the front one to do yet but more then likely I won't need to rebuild that one since that is a "newer" caliper, actually this one didn't need it either but while I was painting it I figured I might as well tackle it and learn how.
Taking # 10 off , the groove will be right there but that doesn't chnage the technique in doing it, I think it still would have been a bit of a task getting it to seat in there with out popping out.
Anyways, good info from all, thank you.
