Hi guys. I heard that a 300ex axle might fit a 87 200x?? Can anyone confirm this? I am having a hard time finding a 86 or 87 200x axel.

After a little more research it seems that 83-84 250r axle is a good match, but I am not sure about the brake setup. Any info?

Im using a 84 R axle in my 86 swingarm. It would be almost direct if you have the 200x carrier. Someone else on here has done this and could probably give you some better info. Im using the 250r carrier and its causing a few unexpected problems (diameter, width) but the brake set up seams to be pretty strait forward. Use the X brake stay, your choice of caliper, (R,X, CR80,...) I believe the rotors are the same as well. You "may" have to make/use some spacers to get the caliper lined up on the disk, but im not 100% on that.

oops.. almost forgot to mention.. the R axle is about a +2/3 over the X, and if you use the 86-87 hubs, you'll add a few more inches!!

Are you positive on that? I know the carrier swaps but I didn't know that the axle swapped too.

yeah they swap. its what ive been told, the aftermarket carriers are all for 250x/300ex and 86 350x only. i didnt belive it at 1st but thats what ive been told and i belive it holds true...this way you can get a nice aftermarket axle and ditch the stock 350x one.

Well, before people start running out and buying axles, I hope someone has actually done this because I haven't seen it....

the 250x/300ex axle definitly fite a 350x. will work on either year. you'll need the offset 300ex hubs and rear sprocket and bolts. the 300ex rear sprocket is the same as a trx250x and 250r and 400ex so much eiaser to get.

my buddy has a RPM or lonestar 300ex axle on his 350x he broke his Durablue HD axle.

Chris070780 is asking about a 200x not a 350x:)

i was replying to Oldscool83 and Dirtcrashers dicussion. for the 200x you need to buy a Durablur 83-84 axle

But he is asking about an 86 200X - the 83 / 84 R axle works with 83-85 200X - but not with 86/87 200X.

Wrong......

83-85 200X = 82 250R axle
86-87 200X = 84 250R axle (83 may be same)

Anyhow, all of this information is very useful.

Thanks to everyone :D :beer

i think *Edited**Edited* wrong on that one, 83/84 R axle fit on the 86/87 200x

Yes, the 83/84R axle does in fact fit in the 86/87 200X, you just have to modify the sprocket hub slightly. If anyone wants to call bulls**t, I'll post pics and make you shut up!

Nah, it's not that. I think Tim just got mixed up. We ALL get mixed up in what swaps with what because of so many different parts that are an exact fit or will fit with minor work.

I started to "cut and paste" posts about known swaps because I can't keep track of them myself. It's easy when you have one machine but when you have a few and your building or riding one at a time, it's near impossible to remember it all.

I just get P'd off when people say "yeah it fits" and they haven't seen or done it themselves because people jump on it and end up with parts they can't use. It's always better to post "I think" or "I heard"......

Especially with all the newer stuff out there, I wish we could form a more organized way of REAL information about what works and swaps with our ATC's to the newer models.

Kinda like a TRIKEAPEDIA that people could add to the discussion or be challenged on until it was factual but it would all be organized and easy to view.

Works perfectly. I didn't have to modify anything. Basically just bolted right up. Much wider and cheap alternative. I did this to my 86 200x with help from the forum of coarse.

3wheelerworld should have "swaps" section with each individual model listed. Yeah, I'm with Dirtcrasher on the whole Trikepedia idea.

I have a 83/84 r axle in my 86 200x. I had to file down the carrier some, where the chain adjust tabs are, everything else fit. I needed the 250r axle lock nuts and get a sprocket for the axle in the tooth count I needed(not 42t, that is stock on a 83/84r). Even with the sprocket it still was almost $200-300 cheaper than an extended axle.

I am getting ready to do this swap, should be finished within the next couple of months. Could you post pics of your setup Ninja? Ive been told that this was a close to bolt-in setup, but I have seen how some members have had to do a bit more modification than others.
For this swap, all I need is an 83-84 250r axle, 250r axle lock nut, and a bit of filing on the hub? Just want to make sure before I start hitting the bid button!

The first generation 200x axles fit, I have a 84 axle in a carrier right now. Just need the sprocket for it, extends it 2'' also.

I just got my 84 250R axle in the mail yesterday, and it kind of fits in my 86 200X. Do I need to use the 200X sprocket & brake hubs, or the 84 250R sprocket & brake hubs?

Thanks,

Sorry, I've been on here off and on as some of you may have noticed. That's why I missed this till now. I've been real busy. I'll try and post up some pics tomorrow. My X is pretty tore down right now, so I'll show you what fits.
