Does anyone know if kx500 forks would fit the 86 tecate without much work? Also what rear shocks, of another bike I could change with the tecate, that may be better? The tecate forks leak on mine now and the rear shock is gone. Looking for better options besides getting these fixed..

500 forks are 2mm larger and would require boring the tripples(if there is enough material)... remember the longer forks will also raise the ride height... basically any rear shock could be made to fit, but different bikes have different leverage ratios on the shock... You could easily end up with something way too stuff... before I changed my rear suspension, I was thinking of trying a rear shock from a 250 quadracer... they use a similar set-up...

well i know people are using raptor, 300ex, and i have even heard of banshee shocks being used on the 85. i dont think a piggyback ressy will work though on the 86 seeing is how there is less space on the swinger where the bottom shock connects and the dogbone bolts upto the swinger. get a raptor shock with the remote ressy, i think like a 01 raptor or something liek that, where you can route the ressy to the frame somewheres. might have to change out the hose for it to the longer t3 one, and get it recharged, but would work im sure.

What about the bottom end, will the tecates bolt fit fine through the forks? What year forks would be best to go with? Yea, ive seen people have the 300ex rear on the 85, can anyone confirm that an 01 raptor will work on this 86, besides maybe the ressy? thanks guys, guess ill start looking out for some forks. Gaukel, I had an 85 roller for sale not long ago but decided to keep it now
