Im sick of gettin beat by the 250r HELP

Whats the cheapest way to make my 350x out run my buddies 85 250r? I've got a cobra exhaust and K&N filter so far. His R is stock other than a FMF silencer.
I know i need to up my main jet some but its not gonna make that much difference.
Would shaving the head and installing a better cam get me very close?
Can i have powroll do a stoke mod to my crank without installing the big bore? If so, what kinda gain could i espect?
Im about ready to sell it and by a 2 stroke.

a 350x wont touch a modded R, as many 450 quads get eaten alive by the 250r......

Coolest solution: get a banshee motor and mount it in your 350x.......you will still have the same displacement (350cc), it will just be 2 cylinder 2 stroke!

Go with a hotter cam, bigger carb, port and polish, a high comp piston, and better exhaust before you fo into strokin and borin. You could also look into sprocket gearing.

but i see it in videos posted here all the time, the 250r eating up those bastids.....
granted, the R's aint stock.......prolly 300r airfoolers, or somthing along those lines, but still.....you dont see modded 350x hanging in there like that......

big bore- or atleast bore it out-
a race cam - definately---- and springs- and a lapp job if not a valve job
stroked - no need- u need horses not torq
port-polish- u can do your self with a good dremmel
carb-- just jet it first-
you can only put through the max air and fuel that you can put through
if you over carb it it will be worse than under carb ing it --- all it will do is sputter,and miss

a smaller front sprocket is the fastest easiest way to get more speed- they have a lot of torq stock-

if you dont want to do these things - try a xr 500- or 600 motor

Allright personally, I wouldn't try making the X beat the R, your going to have so much money into it, and if he mods his..well he'll beat you. I'd say work on getting the bike running good, looking good and the suspension, beat him in other ways, and work on your riding skills.

for the price it would take to beat a R..I don't know but I'm assume not cheap, it'd be better to sell the X and get a R. Or you could do a engine swap. But I don't know how those stack up or anything.

The 350x is a better trail bike from what I've read, since it's 4-stroke.

The R is better for speed

But both can be made to do either. I like just putting gas in and going, but I saw it this way, there's more aftermarket right now with a R, and I can make it a wicked trail machine and still fly on those stretches.

hey ERIC I myself am now a 350X owner, I like it for what it is, but I know I would never try to make it be faster than any of my R's, if your worried about that I would spend the money you would have used on moddin the X to buy a R and smoke that monkey! keep your X reliable and trail ridable thats my plan with mine, my 300 and my flat tracker are my fast machines, and when someone wants to own up to one of them, then go right ahead, but I know my X will loose soem races.

Talk to NOS_350x. I've seen his 350x beat stock 250R's and it's not a big bore.

The problem is though, you could dump a bunch of money into that 350x and end up maybe barely beating him, then he could spend two or three hundred bucks on his R and whoop you again.

I just never cared who's is faster, I'm more impressed by the skill of the rider much more then whos motor is more potent.

IF you want to have a 350x that will beat a stock 250r you need to call Tom Carlson of TC racing. He is located in Warren PA. look him un on the net. There is nobody in the states that is better with the x motor than him. He will make custom cdi, exhaust and many other things that will make that trike fly. If you want to spend the money he will make it 500cc. He has a motor build to run sitting there right now on his shelf that you could prolly get a great deal on. Better be faster than me though bcs iam going there this weekend to talk about this winters project.

yeah theres really no way you will win. my intent on buying such a modified bike was to beat my friends banshee, which i did numerous times. then he put new exhausts,tires,and bored it out to 400 something and he kills me. im considering getting a banshee now, i could loan it to you to beat your friends r if you want? lol!

400EX carb, 12:1 comp piston with race gas, aggressive top end cam, valve springs, supertrapp exhaust, K+N.....

Thats somewhere in the ballpark of 600$ and I'd say the best bang for your buck.

There are conditions that the 350X shines, it's not flat out on straight aways but with the mods I listed above I think you'd be allot closer to the R.

If your goal is to beat someone, buy a 250R but if you love your X like I do, I'd see how much more you like it with those mods.

Don't wanna do it just yet? Give me about 3 weeks and I'll have it in mine aside form the 12:1. I ride TOO much to run race gas.....

For some reason, the 400EX motors aren't very potent.

yea before I got my 350x I rode my buds 400ex thinking it should feal about like this, and his runs really good but all stock, but my 350x totaly destroyes his 400ex! and acording to the info I have my 350x is stock as well, now hes pissed becouse his 400ex is boring, but he broke out his tri-z and dusted me:rolleyes: lol, I expected that though, but what I did expect was alittle more out of the 400ex
