Hello again folks, i'm just wondering how long you guys run you pistons before you change them, i've got a standard tri-z thats had a complete engine rebuild including a new liner and piston, I need to know how long it will last before i need to replace parts, i dont want it to self destruct like it did last time,:)

It all depends on how you ride, and maintain it.
There are cylinders out there that are still on their original bores and piston! Then there are people around here that need a fresh topend every year.

I would just do compression tests every now and then to keep an eye on PSi. Once it gets low enough do a ring job. Dont beat the crap out of it and it will be happy for a long time.

thats what i wanted to here, i've heard lots of different people saying that you need to change the pistons every 10/12 hours worth of riding, how often would you reccomend doing a compression test, every 10 hrs 20 hrs etc,

If you keep track of hours and want to be anal about your engine do it every 10 hours. If not do it every 20, it all depends on how hard you ride.

Alot also depends on how much oil you run in your gas. Ever notice that the 250Rs that are still on their original bore have had an owner that mixes at 20:1 like the factory recommended?
