Ok, so I put about 5 hrs ride time on today in the desert with the 200R. That thing is a blast to ride and will out accelerate TJ's 85 250R that is ported and polished. I don't have as high a topend as him though. On the ride home I was thinking to myself that really this 200 kit would be better off in somebody elses hands. I ride on a weekly basis and sometimes do some pretty hairy hillclimbs. My point being, I need more motor and this kit deserves to be on somebodys flatracker that is going to sit and look pretty and not be ridden. What do you guys think? Should I sell the Selvy motor and pipe and silencer and carb? I would really like to have a 265 motor in this thing. I would be sad to see the kit go. I really do love and appreciate it as a piece of racing history, I just think it should be on somebody elses machine that will sit on a shelf. I'll prolly kick myself later.

I thought just a couple of days ago you were psyched to have this? Just buy another 250R and keep this one...

Dirtcrasher, don't get me wrong, I'm definitely psyched about having the 200R. The thing is, it's simply not in my funds to buy another 250R and I love to ride. I honestly feel guilty riding the 200R as much as I have. I know if I sell the kit, I could build a siiiick motor for my rolling chassis. PM me offers guys if you're interested.

Any estimates on what this motor and pipe combo are worth?

Cant really put a price on it. It all depends on whos out there, and who their competitors are.

Sell it.. What good is owning a trike you cant ride? And what good is reducing engine displacement besides making for a nostalgic conversation piece? Buy or build something you can use and enjoy...

I think since it's so rare it would be nice to have a restored 200R to perfection like Vintage Motor Sports does.

Why don't you ask if they are interested ?

I'm sure there are threads on this but that whole cylinder is different? And has a different stroked crank? along with the custom pipe and silencer. The cases are stock or some material is removed for the piston skirt?

Is that the gist of a SELVY kit?

From what I understand, the process was de-stroking the crankshaft (because the 250R already has a under-square design and even less bore just wouldn't work out as well) and then they cut the bottom of the cylinder to compensate for the decrease in stroke throw. The bubble on the exhaust side of the cylinder, appears to me, to be a modification to allow it to have a triple exhaust port setup instead of just the normal single bridged type. Allows more exhaust to flow out quicker

Actually Billy, they they cut down the top of the cylinder and reworked the ports.

See how the head doesn't match perfectly with the cylinder anymore? See in the second pic how the waterneck had to be moved down and rewelded?

That's exactly what I want to get Kintore. Approximately how much does that kit cost? Give me a little more input on it too.

I bought this motor-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220153959299&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012

I got a STEAL on it, as far as Im concered
Hinson basket
PC 2000 fully ported MX cylinder
New top and bottom end with less than 30 on top and 5 on bottom
2 cool heads
Paul Turner Pyramid reeds and cage
17-19 cc domes
Polished cases

I love this thing, espically for MX its intense. I can now cut a corner and pull out almost if not the same as a 4 stroke. The top end is phenomial as well, pretty much takes the "hit" away and adds a smooth controllable powerband. I found the top end is awesome as well, pretty much has awesome power all over the board to say the least.

PC 2000 PV cylinders are pricey, the motor I worked out is about 3500ish if not more. The PC setup is just around 1500 itself, not including any other work either.

I got a full paul turner motor now, pipe, carb, reeds, top and bottom end... and it hauls dude.

GET ONE!
