my friend is installing a ski doo 800 cylinder onto his trx 250r. he also told me it is going to cost around $1000 complete. that includes a new nicasil cylinder. he said it will be a 401cc and his friend already did it and its just under 60 rwhp. i wanted to put an esr top end on mine but this seems like the way to go. mind you its not a bolt on kit theres some machine work involved. here is a pic of the one already done.

a sabertooth or formaly known is the polanda motors, you dont know about these stupid motors? man! they are nuts, known for destroying everything in its wake, including the there own trans, even heard that yukon gears get destroyed! also major money!

well hers a cheap alternative for some awesome power. an atc 250 r with 60 hp will be realy tough to ride for most. im going to see how theres hold up before i go crazy. ill also call him this week and get more details.

The sabertooth and the polanda are totally different combinations, the polanda is a polaris sport 400 cylinder while a sabertooth is a custom built cylinder. What is described in the above post are usually called rotax cylinder motors. oh well enough talking about stuff i cant afford.

well your pushing the same power with the cr500 set up. i would just be concerned with maybe gear probelms from the added stress of the two wheels.

im going to call him next week and get more details. but his buddy apperently has some cash because he built a 370 he also tried a pilot 400 top end and said it was a turd and now he is on this one and it has yielded the best power. and yes he will share all details.

Wasn't that engine on Ebay a while back? I remember everyone bashing on the ghetto engraving on the cylinder side...

I wouldn't mind that engine in a TRX250R chassis. That'd be pretty sweet in the dunes.

Any thing you can do to a tecate other then the kx cylinders?

heres a couple more. you need to weld the stud area from oem cylinder. then re drill and tap for the studs for the 800 cylinder. you need to change the angle of the intake and exhaust for the carb and pipe. start to finish is around $1600. then you need a crank, bearings, seals etc etc. its not cheap thats for sure. total cost is probally around $2500 but not sure.

for that price you can just buy a whole new 800 engine that makes 140 hp lol

Guys if it was me I wouldne go that way I will just buy esr 350 jug nonpowervalve with the new +8mm crank setup for the 250r and as they said you will be doing more than 400CC, its way better than spending more money and time into customed jug and if something goes wrong then you will start welding and fixing and measuring all over again.....
I recommend ESR 350jug and +8mm crank is 1600$
