I'm buying another 1985 atc 70 The owner says it idles good, but when he puts it in gear it dies. It sounds like the main jet is clogged. Could it be anything else. I cant pass up the deal.

If it idles good I would say its a carb issue. Bad idle is a sign of low compression per the Manual, so you shouldn't have to worry about that.

anything else I should look for? He says it dosen't smoke. Plastic is in good shape. Seat is perfect.(which is rare). I just dont want to drive 3 hours for nothing. Ive seen pics, but should I ask anything else before going.

As long as it doesn't smoke, plastics are good, and seat is ok. I would say get it. If the tires are good then nothing to think about, get it. Sounds like all the high dollar stuff is in good shape. I mainly look at plastics, tires, tank, and engine since they cost the most to replace. Everything else is cheap or just needs paint to fix or make look good. I have seen a couple with a bent front end or frame. To check make sure the front fender does not rub the top of the head. If it does, could be from a bent frame or forks. I had one like this, but rode it forever without the front fender with no issues.
