How do you polish cases. I want to polish my cases on my 350x but I don't know how to start it off.
Or if someone on here does polish cases how much would you charge todo it. I will ship them to have them done.

I can polish small parts pretty nicely. I never did cases but I did exhausts and fork tubes. Stripping the old paint and removing all the tiny scratches would be the hardest part. A dremel with a small buffing wheel works really nicely.

maybe have them blasted - soda,or something that wont hurt it-
if not i used valve grinding compound and a cloth-lot of elbo grease-
wash with dawn dish soap, then mothers mag polish-
the valve grinding compound is not rough like it sounds-!!!!
it worked great-
a dremmel with atachment tips will help too

(1) clean and strip paint (2) hit with wire wheel in die grinder -or- green roloc pads on die grinder (3) put 2-3 tablespoons of dishsoap in a bowl of water and wet sand with 220 or 320 (4) move up to 500 grit (use 3M paper) and then up to 800 grit (5) buff out with mothers mag polish and rag - or use buffing wheel

- the idea behind stepping down on paper grit is to take out all the scratches from the previous paper - *implied* - that you would remove the heaviest scratches with the first grit

**step 2 can be skipped ** (1) sandblast (2) wire wheel is also a good start

Ok but you can't sandblast alluminum so that is out of the picture. Ill post up pictures of before and after so you guys can see how a master does it. jk

you can blast aluminum - use a softer abrasive and lower pressure. I have done it many times. I would not do it on a case tho

I remember just taking a wirewheel to my old 110 engine I had laying around, while it was still all together. Made it shiny... probably not what you want though

(2) hit with wire wheel in die grinder -or- green roloc pads on die grinder

You will only need to do this step if the surface is not smooth, otherwise it will just cause you more work.
