on my 300 big bore kit, what should the ring gap be?
they are touching when i put the piston into the cylinder, and that cant happen....it will tie up..
so, when i slip the ring into the sleeve and use the piston to square the ring in the cylinder, what should the gap in the ring be?

Generally on most engines I have found .004" gap per inch of bore diameter to be an acceptable minimum end gap... Ex... 3"=.012, 4"=.016, etc..... not sure on the air cooled machines though... may want to be a bit larger

Better have someone look it up in the manual. I've had to "file" the ends on brand new rings before because it was too tight. They don't file too well and I ended up putting my dremel in a vice with a cutoff wheel and grinding them a bit..
make sure the rings arnt sitting on top of the ring guid on the piston!

they were on the piston correctly.
when i slip the ring into the cylinder without the piston, the ends touch.
just need a gap size.....the manual does not say for the 300 kit :(
