I'm going to be picking up a 2002 Yamaha Warrior later today that supposedly needs a top end job. Does anyone know how the Warrior 350cc compares to the Honda ATC 350X motor, torque, top speed? I'm just curious.

I can tell you they are a bit heavy. 65 ish should be close to the top speed. 6 speeds are nice.

warriors have only 2 valves, and they're slower then most piped blasters.

they are turds, a 200x will spank it, easy at that too.

Warriors are great trail bikes. They dont have the same kick because, like stated above 2 valves compared to 4.

They are heavy, so be careful about getting them stuck-it will wear you out quick!

good bikes, mine was a tank.

Very heavy, underpowered and odd handling is how I would describe a Warrior and the one I rode was like brand new...

I bought a brand new warrior in 96, rode it almost every day for 2 years. Raced it in a GNCC race and 2 NC/SC harescrambles. I'm 6'3, 225 and top speed was 53 mph for me. It was not heavy for me, loved the way it rode, had to upgrade the front shocks to Works brand and added a DG pipe.
I went to ride with a neighbor one day who had an old atc 350, he was younger with no "racing experience" like me so I thought I'd smoke him.
That atc was the fastest thing I'd ever seen, smoked me from the get go, on starts, mid speed and top end too. He blew my britches off on that trike and it was stock.
Just my findings!

Thanks for the replies. Well like I said I'm not too worried about top speed. I just came back from picking it up. Traded straight up. Man this quad is awesome (no i'm not selling my 250es). It has all the hop up's on it already. Aftermarket springs, shocks, nerfs, rims/tires, adj. Durablue axle, alloy front bumper, jet kit, etc.. Shifts good, no leaks, just lost compression. Hopefully just the rings/piston. Not a bad trade for a 1979 Mariner 80hp outboard that I don't even know runs.

I'll post some pics later or tomorrow. Man this warrior looks awesome to me.

Warriors are o.k. bikes. My friend had one that was very far from stock, his good buddy had a banshee and he got sick of playing "catch up". Believe it or not, the warrior would actually smoke the stock banshee and even a stock '86 250r atc. Of course the owners of the R and banshee put a few dollars into their rides and no matter what the warrior owner did he could not keep up, but to beat a stock r and banshee is pretty impressive.

i don't belive it a stock warrior would get skoooled bye a stock blaster 18hp i think with a skilled rida let alone a 38 hp 250r keep smokin!

Stock R's, and Stock Banshees dont have alot of power. A piped 400ex(i doubt a warrior could) can beat a stock Banshee. But finding a stock 250R, and a stock banshee is rare.

another thing you guys for-got to mention is that there are a couple of upgrades for the warrior/raptor...

there is a powroll 430cc big bore kit for $1250 or something like that, 80% power increase with out a pipe... and you can upgrade the suspension(a-arms, swing arm, shocks) from yfz's. there are even case's of people making them faster than the 450 atv's.

The boat motor was in great condition too. But I am very surprised at the condition of the bike. The best part is that I only paid $250 for that motor about 3-4 years ago, so thats what I have in this bike.
He said he was the second owner. He also said that right after it lost compression he just went and bought a new Raptor and didn't bother trying to get it fixed since his buddy bought a new quad and he wanted to be able to beat him.
I'm not into all the racing and who can out do who. Looks like it will be a great trail bike and thats all I need.
Hopefully soon I can start digging and see exactly what it needs, but as you other "family guys" know xmas is coming real fast and those duckies have to be spent elsewhere.
Thanks for all the replies fellas.

yeah i just sold a warrior there very reliable no back up starting sucks though, but it runs right beside a 300 ex my 350x beats it badly and it also runs right beside a stock blaster we have here. i dont know where the 65 mph came from it might stretch to 55 i have a old dirtwheels that gives the speeds on the 300ex blaster and warrior there all mid 50's. one thing thou we put a dg on the warrior lol and you can hear it from a mile away, and it was the best riding trail bike i ever had very smooth ride

yea they are! I had some much fun beating the crap out of 88 I had, I could jump as high as I wanted and Just as fun on the trails, I would ride Like a nut on that thing and when I stopped it would take 1 minute for every body to catch up... I out ran blasters on straight, idk why though....
