I got a speedometer that came off of a 200 Big Red.

I now know it won't fit on an 83-85 200X. What exact models will it fit on?

OK - let me rephrase the question - obviously the speedometer will fit on anything including a rototiller - what other models share the same gearbox as the 200ES model?

The gearbox will fit (it's a bit tight getting it in hub but it will fit and gearbox runs the right way) you will need to find a longer cable which is fairly easy as most of the honda speedo cables are the same and make a speedo head bracket...think a member on here makes them???? :D :D :D

Well - the gearbox will fit a 200ES - I am trying to get it on the 200X. The gearbox fits, but the axle is too big to go through the outer part of the gearbox {the part the cable hooks too}........anybody with a speedo on a 200X wanna shoot me a picture?

the calabration will be off on it going from a 25" tire to a 23"

so the 200ex and the x have diffrent axles... some gear boxes you have to pull the hub seal out for it to fit right ..might not be the problem in this case

I thought the same thing about this calibration Raffa, so I measured the height of my 200M front tire(25") - it is about 23.5" tall at 2.2 PSI - then I measured the 200X front tire - is too is 23.5" tall at like 12PSI (where I run it.) The part the slips into the front hub fits good. It is just that the gearbox will not slip over the axle - the axle is too big in diameter......or maybe the gearbox hole is too small..........

Anyway - I think a picture would clarify, but now I think I'll just put the speedo on a different machine to avoid screwing up the stock set up.

This is some pics of a NOS 200x front axle and a new es speedo drive as you can it fits so check if there's any crap in the seedo drive unit as it's good tight fit but i have done this mod on a 200x ... it worked fine....
Also the speedo kits have a tolerance of +5%-5% so a 10% margin which brings it about right......

DOH!!!!!!! big old brain fart on my end!!!!!!! OK - the gearbox fits the axle, but when I put it back together - I do not have the enough thread on the axle or something. I'll have to get pics - as I really want this to work. I think my front axle is different or something - like it has another flange - Well maybe I never removed the non-brake side spacer -I can;t remember - it was like 2 days ago - DOH again ......... I'll try again to install tonight with pics so you guys can help me out a little better.
