250r motor in a 200X

Does anyone know if a 83-85 250R motor will fit in a 85 200X? I would like try but don't have a 250R motor to check if it will fit. I would rather try a air cooled than the liquid.

Well for starters the chain is on the worng side. I'm sure you could do it with some time, I think there are pictures of one with this swap. Not a "bolt in" type swap for sure though.

Uggh........ I give you guys credit for thinking and attempting these conversions. But rarely do they come out good and handle well. Honda made frames and suspension for each model for a reason. Some conversions are very very well done and worth the trouble but 75% of them are a waste of your imagination. These swaps are never easy.....

The 86/87 200X has a nice suspension and handling setup and a larger frame cradle. I believe it could benefit with a 2 stroke motor. But I don't think the 85 and under 200X will benefit, although you will find them with 400cc street bike motors in them :(

Your right. DAMMIT! OK, Well, is their a 2cycle 200-250 Honda motor made that would work in a 200X.

My 175cc engine is a damn tight fit in the X frame, so I don't see a 200-250 2 stroke fitting in there without some major modification.
Are you looking for something that will bolt in with minor mods, or are you willing to go all out and do whatever it takes?

I would like a bolt in mod but, I can build/rebuild what needs to make it work.
What I am trying to do is take the X that is in the pict. and make it into a Ice racer this winter. I need to make it screem and the 2 stroke seems to be the best wa to make it do this.

I have lowered it and with the wider tires and rims I can run this thing wide open in the corners (on dry gravel). I know that it is not fast enough to play with the big boys but if I could make it faster and make the rear wheels spin (the way 2 strokes can) I know this light, low, WIDE ride will be one for the contending!

well try a cr125 motor? or similar.

kx100 motor, or rm100, you'd need radiators but it would have some snap and be smaller then a 125 motor.

Not trying to be a smartass but, why not just look for an air cooled 250R? By the time it's all said and done it would probably be cheaper and still be a better machine.

honestly I alway nocked around the idea of a tri-z with a blaster motor in it, I think that would be trick!

That is an excellent suggestion... Such a simple motor, easy to unleash it's power potential and tons of them out there.
