can it be done / drive gearbox 125m

i brought an hondaline drive set for me 86 125m and now installed it went out on road and only the tripmeter was goin round no speedo , but when i went into reverse the speedo started to move which tells me the drive set is wrong to start off. now people are all sayin that from this bike it will be right or this one will fit and in end its costing a few £££ so any knowledge or if any one has the right one which is off an 85-88 big red then please tell me ? any replys or info on this would be helpful

no i havent got a big red ive got an 125m and fitted the speedo just ive got the wrong drive gearbox apprently i need the same gearbox that was used for the 85-88 big red

I have a 87 125M that being restored and very few on this site have them, your the 1st to come along in a long time on here and even mention one.

Can you post any pictures of it, would love to see it .

Are there a fair amount of them in the UK because over here they are very rare for sure.

I believe those gear boxes (that go down on the front axle) are model specific.. meaning you dont want to use a 200x gear on a big red.. etc...

The rest of the kit like the speedo head and cable, and guide can probably be interchanged. not 100% sure about the mounting bracket on the tripples though.

you dont have the gearbox on backwards do you? The part that the cable attaches to goes towards the back of the trike.

I believe you'll need the 250SX/ES gear.....

hey huffa yeh pic to come on soon am in process of restro my 86 nearly done , startin workin on my two 87 model now. very hard to try and get started tho as its all 250r , 350x stuff thats why who ever take pride and only has an 86 - 87 125m then i want to hear from you. these bike are few and far between so i want to hear for you guys / or ladies if there are any... but yeh suppose you dont have a correct drive kit do you ?

the mountin brcaket ive had to turn upside down as the kit was from a 200e model reverdes the bracket and it fits a dream the cabel and ties are all good the just the damm gearbox the wheel turn clockwise and the gearbox turn anti-clockwise but i need that to turn same as the front wheel clockwise
