Does any of the tri-z owners know the yamaha parts number of the 2 little bolts that thread into the lower triple tree and hold the lower part of the Headlight Assembly? I went to the dealer the other day and they could not find a parts number. I managed to get the 2 rubber grommets though. I know the bolt has a nut shaped piece in the middle and each end is threaded. I'm not sure if there is a nut that is suppose to go on the top threaded area? Maybe someone has some pics of how they hold the headlight in place?

Well, I already tried looking up the parts diagram at bike bandit and at the official yamaha site and they both show the same thing, NOTHING! Thank you anyways, but the parts diagram that you have listed shows the same NOTHING. It shows the part, but, there is no kind of number listed. It shows that there is a rubber grommet (#30) that attaches to it, but it still gives no part number. And I can't figure out why, because the part is definitely threaded, and can seperate itself from the lower triple tree, cause my tri-z front end that I have installed on my bw200 only has one! There has to be a parts number for this part listed somewhere I would think???

Do they have a computer showing the diagrams?

At my Yamaha shop, I always end up behind the desk showing them what I want.

Its like they lose all confidence in their system when I say "1985 250 tri-z."

Upon closer inspection, the parts in question are some kind of pins. I pulled the one I had out and it is not threaded and it just pushes into the lower triple tree. I might try to mic the pin and see what metric bolt it corresponds to and just tap the holes out and install bolts. I find it hard to believe that all the microfiches I have looked at don't even have the part listed and that the only way you could get the things is by buying a lower triple tree. Guess I'm overdue on getting new glasses!
