Hey all!! I bought a frame recently (87 Tecate kxt) and it has no V.I.N stamped on the frame neck or anywhere else. It does have a "Vin" sticker and a title to it... The frame itself is in excellent shape. No grindmarks or anything on the frame. Were factory replcement frames available for these?? Tecat-z has the frame now for paint and cant find any markings either. This is our only guess as to no VIN stamped on the frame.. Anyone know if this may be true?? Thanks!! :beer

For everything you could get new frame, I know where to get new frames for honda 86/87 200x and 85/86 atc250r, they don't have vin numbers on them. Most of your replacement honda quad frames are the same way.

My buddy has an LT250 like this... the original owner bent the frame and bought a oem replacemnt from suzuki when the bike was like 2 years old... the bike has a vin sticker on it and uses the original title... they dont sell frames with vins so thieves cant title stolen bikes...

My 87 had a sticker on it...... I snapped photos of it before I prepped it for refinishing. So its not stamped on the frame it was only a sticker!

I can only imagine how much a new old stock r frame must cost  Who has these still and whats the cost, must be $1500 or better?

That's exactly correct, all the big 4 does this, seen it at every dealer I've worked at.

My 86 Tecate is the same. No VIN, but it has an Oregon issued VIN Tag, But Oregon dosent issue titles, so im kinda confused as to what to do when I decide to register the thing. Ran the numbers and it dosent come up stolen, and I have a bill of sale, Wonder if the frame is a replacement as well... would make sense as I can tell that its been torn down to the bare frame at least once (frame is powdercoated blue) guy I bought it from didnt know much about it. the new 250r frames cost less than the custom frame I had made, my custom frame cost me 2g's, a new oem frame was going for $1700. I will take my custom frame anyday over a oem frame anyway, its far far far stronger and uses some current parts over the discontinued and/or soon to be parts.
