I've got the carb from an 83 XR 200 and dimension wise I think it is very close to being a direct swap. Just curious how it might react. The only problem with the carb is it always had a massive dead spot once the engine was warmed up. Actually ran the carb on a 185S engine swapped into the XR200 frame for a while so I may have just answered my own question but I'm still curious what would cause a dead spot. I cleaned the carb spotless multiple times but nothing cured it. Found an identical mikuni in a box of junk and put it on and it ran better but still a slight dead spot but the bike has long been sold to a new owner. Any ideas?
I believe its a 30 mm VM type

I still haven't gotten my hands on the XR200 yet. I'm going to pull the cam out of it and get the carb too. One thing I remembered is the XR200 carb used a rubber intake boot and pushed into it and clamped rather then bolting to the intake like the stock 200X carb does. How are you guys working around this?

i think the xr intake bolts up to the x head

Yea but if I remember correctly on the XR200 the intake boot bolts directly to the head and puts it on an angle which will angle the carb some, and on the 200X the carb sits level. That and the 200X carb being positioned back a little further due to its longer intake pipe is what is worrying me about the fitment. I'd like to retain the stock air box and hose if I can.
