Ok here is a new project for a friend of mine. with some incourage ment of me
He loves Suzuki quads like Quadracer 250 & 500 alot, and he loves riding old racing threewheelers, but Suzuki didnt build him a racing trike so, were going to make are own, my friend is excellent welder, fabricator so this shouldnt be to hard when come to frame modding, but here are the stats and if anyone wants to offer suggestions will be glad to here or see pics if anyone else has done the same
Starting with 87-90 Quadracer 250
Then remove hole front and cut frame, then using either 250R or tri-z possible Rm 250 Front frame and forks all combined, but making sure to mock either 250r or tri-z geometry to keep the handling similar to orginal trike.
Also going with orginal blue frame coloring
Suzuki yellow plastic
85-86 Straight seat not T seat
Help with names for thios machine would be appriciated will get custom graphics to match
like Tri-Racer, Tracer, RM3, ect? ideas?
This should be ready for Trikefest 09, maybe 08
also if all goes well look to see another but with LT500 Motor.

Too bad you aren't starting with the 500. You could call it a tri-zilla :naughty:

I think its a cool Idea...the pipe is going to be the biggest challenge... the cylinder on an 87+ LT sits pretty far forward and the exhaust exits low... the frame would end up being long in order for the exhaust to clear the tire... I would use an RM250 engine and pipe to make things much easier... maybe even the RM frame, radiators, tank and shrouds too... then add a LT subframe, swinger, axle, etc... and IMO even though the T-seat doesnt look the greatest, it would give the trike that classic quadracer look and also be somewhat beneficial on a trike. A RM465/500 would also make a great powerplant for a Trizilla...

you should just start with a 250r, or smiliar trike frame and then mount rm shrouds to it.

I would like to see an 1986 RMT250R.... I think the '86 RM250's tank and shrouds and decals look badass and would match the styling of a LT rear fender pretty well... as well as allow interchange with LT cylinders...

sounds good, i always thought then old RM's would make a good 3wheeler, the tanks are large, interchange with rm125 stuff and well, it would be cool to a a yellow fendered and blue framed 3wheeler

why not just use an older rm frame, and convert it to a trike... a bit simpler for yah instead of hacking up a q-racer frame to put a trike front end on it.

i'd use the RM chassis....

by the time you got the chassis all hacked up from a q-racer to make it a trike it would be unappealing IMO

i know there has been atleast 1 400ex trike conversion that used the 400ex frame and looked really clean. The pipe wasnt a problem because it was a 4 stoke, but if you could find a way to make the pipe work I think you would be fine with the quad frame. Possibly experiment with a dirtbike pipe or an atc250r pipe?

I will try to get some pics of the parts that will go into this conversion. In a week or so, as far as wasting a quadracer frame it wont matter Chris has a grave yard or should i say resting patiently amount of Suzuki parts of all sorts so main parts needed will just be threewheeler front end and frame section, misc Rm tank and shrouds, key thing is want to resemble a quadracer rear, by using the rear, not a bike conversion that will have all custom rear, also will stick with Quadracer motor for the counterbalancer and lighting coils.

Sounds like fun. Pretty sure i read an article in a old 3 wheeling magazine about a 250 dirtbike/trike set up, it supposedly was quite the screamer. it was in 83 or 84, not sure.

whack the subframe off of an old q-racer frame.. there are crap loads of twisted lt250R frames out there then use the main frame section from the RM chassis.. by puttig these two together you'll still have the Q racer rear look and not have to do MAJOR frame front end reconstruction...

I had some similar ideas for a Kawazuki KXLT250. 86 Tecate frame with Quadracer motor. The LT motor like most quad motors has the cylinder angled forward more than a dirtbike and would be very tight in the Tecate frame. I will post some pics of possibilities now since my LT motor ate sand at the dunes and the quad has to be taken apart. I have seen pics of a KX500 motor in a LT frame and a Tecate 3 and 4 frame.

The 86 RM has the same cylinder design as the 87-92 LT but that is about it. Who knows what swingarm would fit?

Fab up a custom LT frame and be totally unique.
