Ok here we go this may sound stupid. On my 225DX I love the thing to death but out on trails and riding just the sound of the motor gets hypnotic after a while and I want something else. I was thinking of trying to put some kind of speakers on it somewhere so I can listen to my music. I know its possible for 4 wheelers as my neighbor has speakers on his honda that he uses when he is towing his bushog cutting grass. I want to try to hook up to cheap atlas 8 inch speakers to it somehwere one will work if I have to and run them if possible off the altenator/generator and use a sony walkman as the CD player for them. I can rig them to a standered headphone jack thats easy but the walkman dont have power to power them hence forth the need for the other power sorce. Anyone here halfway decent in audio components wana try to help me out? I figure this is a good place to ask even this cause we all know 3 wheelers and some may know audio.

My uncle had a radio and speakers on his kawi bayou, he used it a lot for yard work. From what i remember all he had was a car reciever hooked up to the battery with an antenna and speakers, very simple to do, just get the marine type speakers and reciever so it can take a little moisture.

You can conect the speakers directly to the mp3 or cd player, but they dont have enough power, you must get an amplifier to amplify the sound (if you are using car speakers)
You can also buy some cheap speakers with built in-amplifier, its the simpler solution.

Can I suggest an MP3 or ipod with over-the-ear type head phones that should fit snugly under your HELMET!!!
Although I think you can get helmets with the speakers already fitted, just has a wire with a jack to fit to your radio/MP3/ipod.
Safe triking...

Usually if you put the full link in and post it it'll do it for you. But if it doesnt, then you put the link in, and put [ url]3wheelerworldforums.com[ /url] at the beginning and end, but without the spaces.

more replys than I expected. I know the CD player will skip when the bats die but mine will last a week on a charge. As for the amp how bout the built in amps from computer speakers hook it to the battery/alt and use the atlas speakers on that. Id use a MP3 player but dont have any money for one at the time just ordered a new headlight shroud, headlight, screws and all for mounting alone with new handle calipers for the brakes so im broke. the atlas speakers are old intercom speakers from my old school they sold off their portable buildings and I bought 2 of them and got the speakers out once the 2 way thing is removed they make great sounding stereo speakers.
Anyways Ill look on the links giving and any more ideas would work. As for marine speakers money issue plays in again but ill get some eventualy or find a junked boat to take some from.
Keep the replys comming and Ill keep posted on how it goes once I get started. Ill try to get pics if i can find the SD card for my camera.

hello
if you need speakers go to your local junkyard auto that is, the bigger ones are better because there busy and will let you go thru the junk yard.
i scored a couple 6 inch kenwood mids out of a grand am for ten dollars wel worth the work to get them.
dont forget your wasp and hornet spray.

the mint can amp is for headphones only. Need something better I think a actualy car amp or something similar may be required unless someone else knows of another way to get that much power. Dont need alot of watage just enough power to hear.

No no jackson five. I look into the kenwood stuff when I get more cash then but I got ideas now. As for a faster bike Im riding trails I dont wana go 80 into a 3 foot thick oak or maple and kill me and the trike.
My music is far from jackson five. More scream and indie and heavy metal like from autoum to ashes, metallica, bullet for my valintine, children of bodom, and cake are a few.
IF any other ideas let me know I like the kenwood maybe if i can find a car at a junkyard with a working player in it.

why not strap a cooler rigged with a stereo in it to your bike. I bet you can get racks for your bike. I was thinking about building a stereo for my SX. I have the racks, but have not constructed the box for the radio.

I dont have a rack but yea I can get them about 60 on ebay is cheapest ive seen so far for the DX rack. I want the rear and front rack now that I thinka bout it. rear rack can hold a cheap box/cooler to hold the speakers semi water tight and the front rack can hold the deck with a bit of cheap foam around it in a litle metal box to cushion it and run the wires down a harness down through the holes in the light cowling down the frame with the rest of the wires then right up the back to the cooler through the little drain spout which could be sealed with silicone RTV.

The best part of it, is that you don't kill your radio if you want to ride on a rainy day. You simply remove the cooler and off you go.

that doesnt sound bad at all. A cheap wally world cooler, A cheap used junkyard possible deck my cheap speakers. Only bad part is the cash for the racks.
