look at the homepage, look thru specifications or something like that. find 82 Honda's and see if it matches your VIN pattern.. if not - find 83.........

post up the # . if all you want is to see what year your machine is i can do that real easy. but if you wanna see if it a "clean" or "hot" frame ive bin trying to find a place that will do it too.

Arizona gov't has a website to check VINs and license plates to see if they're stolen, http://theftaz.azag.gov/index.php#results-anchor

Maybe your state has something similar?

I havent been able to get anywhere with vin numbers here in WA either. Sometimes when i call the dmv they will not tell me anything at all and other times they will only answer questions with a YES or NO.

I have called them before and explained that i found a bike advertised on the internet and wanted to see if it was stolen before i actaully went to look at it. It seems like if you have the chance to explain what you want it for they a little more giving. But they pull it up on their computer and i ask if it has been reported stolen and they answer with just a yes or no 99% of the time, i had one though that i checked on that had been reported stolen in the early 90's i believe it was and i asked her if there was anyway to get it taken care of. I dont remember how she said it but it came down to even if i had the last registered owners contact info i wouldnt be able to get ahold of them. It sounded like the person had died, in jail, etc.

Like i said earlier if they know why you want it and know that you arent going to use the information for bad then they might give out more. The Oregon DMV did when i was trying to get a title for my ktm 540, Probably because they knew if i was going to drive 45 minutes from WA to OR i was actaully serious about it. They actaully gave me the ownership and history information for the bike and explained what i would need to do to get the OR title for it. The whole thing took me 3 months or a little longer from start to finish before they handed me the title but ive got it now and that is what matters!
