Let me start out by thanking you guys and this site. Without it I wouldn't have been able to do this refresh.
With that said ,heres what I've done.
Painted frame, front hub, rear hubs and motor mounts with PJ1 Honda red 88-89
Painted swingarm and footpegs silver.
Painted handlebars and misc. items black.
New bearings in swingarm and front hub.
New sprockets and o-ring chain.
New front caliper from a kx80 rear caliper.
New/used OEM rear rims.
New Carlisle Turf Tamers.
New Maier front and rear fenders.
85 200x engine and carb.
I split the cases on the 83 engine to fix the 3rd gear slip by putting in better spect shift forks and had the cylinder bored, new rings and piston, gaskets and oil seals. put it all back together and it still slipped:cry: . So I bought the 85. I only wanna split the cases 1 more time so I wanna put a 95 or newer xr200 tranny and kick start gear in it.
I think thats it:wondering . She starts on the 2nd kick and runs great:cool: . Getting the carb dialed in took me awhile but now she idles great and has nice response. She has just the right amount of power for my low level skills of riding. I was a little intimidated at first by this project but now that it's done i think i did a pretty good job for a rookie;) . Heres some pics.

It looks great! Doesn't it feel good being done and being able to step back knowing that you did it?

Thats a beautiful trike, wish mine looked like that! I definitely like the stock fenders better IMO. Good luck with that thing! =)

Did that little rubber piece thats holding the kickstarter in place come stock, or did you add that? Ive never seen one on a 200x before. Thats a nice trike though, definately does not look like a rookie built that!!! :beer

Thanks guys:) . I was going for a mechanicly sound machine and I think I have one now. Nick, thats a add on by me. The kicker is worn and it would move when I would ride it rubbing the frame so I went to Lowes and got a pole storage clip ( attwood pole storage clip # 7571L7 ) and mounted it with 2 hose clamps. The kicker fits perfect in it. As for the fenders, I wanted new so I went with those.

That's a clever idea for holding the kicker in place. My '85 200X moves and rattles a bit when I ride too. I'll have to remember that.

That 3rd gear slip will get ya. Myself and a whole slew of other board members have had/have that problem. I finally fixed mine with an entire tranny replacement, but that's a smart idea, to just put a newer XR tranny in.

Anyways, I really like how freakin clean your trike looks. The paint job looks really good too man. Good job.

Do you have any pics of the rear of the fenders looking at the trike from the back? Interested to see if there is any countor to the Maier fenders or if they are just flat across the back like the stock ones. Also how well did they fit? Any drilling?

Nice looking trike though.

Hay Snake I took your advice on the tranny, I'm still looking for one. oldred95, I don't have any I'll have to take some and post 'em tomorrow. I didn't have to drill any holes they fit good. The only thing I see with the rear fender is theres no pin slots for the fender support bracket. I'll take pics of that 2 to show you. Thanks guys.
