This is another pipe I just won off ebay and the guy had it listed as stock, which it obviously is not. So anybody recognize it? Who made it? It fits very nicely and is fairly thick walled.
that one im clueless about, not CT or Jemco possibly an old answer or basini?

I also have one with the exact same type of construction that came on an 82r that I just picked up.

Does it have any heat shield mounts? I have an old magazine with an aircooled pipe shootout in it and can check the pics. Sorry, no scanner. I have a full Kerker setup on my 81 R and it has mounts for both shields.

Yeah, the 81/82 has heat shield mounts on it. Like I said, it appears to be made by the same builder. How good were these old Bassani pipes for the airfooler? They look like they're more for topend power. Thanks for the input guys.:beer

I'm glad you posted this, I have the exact same pipe and I've always wondered what kind it was. Nice pipe too, goes good with an answer silencer on mine

totally forgot about this post then remembered it again with this new talk of rare pipes. To answer your question Ninja, I like it a lot but I dont have much to compare to as far as other aircoolers. My buddy has an 84R with stock pipe that seems to have slightly better low end but not as good top end. Like with most pipes, after about 5 minutes or however long it takes to heat up then it feels like a totally different machine. I'm actually repainting it now because it was starting to get really rusted, so its all sanded down and smooth. but yeah to answer your question I like it!

OK then, what the hell is this pipe then? Could it possibly be a Bassani that somebody ground the heatshield mounts off of? The reason I say this is because the 81/82R pipe that I have that is of similar construction has heatshield mounts on it. So, could somebody, please enlighten me.

I'd like to know as well, I guarentee my pipe is the exact same as that one because I spent a while last night sanding it down and repainting it, actually came out pretty good I'll have to put some pics up but anyways yeah mine is exactly the same. If there was a heat shield someone did a really good job making it look like it was never there, even when it was down to bare metal I didnt see any evidence of one.

That is what is known as a Bassani Regular for the air cooled 250R. Bassani made different versions of the pipes for the three wheelers back in the early 1980's. Typically the bassani regulars were narrow with or without heatshield mounts and with a downward bent style stinger such as the ones in the first photograph, and they used the round steel silencers. Now the high performance bassani pipes are called Jimmy White Replicas. These were manufactured for all the 250R's and the tecates. These pipes are better in construction, wider cone sectional pipes without the bends in the stinger, no mounts for the heat shields and only use the special JWR aluminum silencer, and you need a stinger extender as well to fit it in the silencer. I have Jimmy white Replica models for every model 250R and tecate. I have the special silencers as well. I sold about 3 Jimmy white replicas to different members here over the years. Whiteman350X is the only one who got a complete set with the special extender and aluminum silencer. I have NOS bassani exhausts for a wide variety of three wheeler ATV's that are part of my personal collection. Those first photographs are bassani reg. pipes, but not JWR's. I have paperwork with the exhaust as well, the JWR's are marked "JWR", and the regulars are marked "Reg".

Thankyou very much for that informational reply. I'm sick of these "it is this" or "it is that" followed by the "no you are wrong" replies. You've been very helpful and I appreciate it.

Yeah thanks man, I didnt know anything about mine, good to know. I'm just curious where the "reg" is marked on the pipe, I've been all over mine sanding it down and I didnt see any markings anywhere other that what look like two "L"'s on the upper mount. Thanks for the info!
