I've been working on my '84 Big Red for the better part of 2 months and I finally have a roller and I can share some pics. This thing was in lots of pieces when I got it, but it did roll. If I had realized how rusty the frame was I probably woulda passed it up, I was too concerned looking in the boxes to make sure it was fairly complete. I've had to beg and borrow to get this far and the engine needs a rebuild so it won't be done for a while yet, I'm not in a hurry.
Grounded, this is how she sat for the last 3 weeks, waiting on bearings and seals for the rearend.

Here's the rearend on my worktable. Just got it together, put hubs from a 300ex on it and 12" Douglas wheels with 25x10-12 Maxxis Lightfoot tires.

My 4yo daughter got the first sit-on after it was a roller, she was just happy she could touch both pegs at the same time.

I think those big wheels look awesome. Now I hope they ride okay on this old hardtail.
Lots more work ahead. I have a new xr200 cam, a carb boot and carb off a 300ex and a headpipe and muffler off a 450R. Lots of junk that I can maybe mod to work together on the old gal before it's done. Chris

Muffler came off an '06 450R. Guy I know put an aftermarket system on and I bought his take off system cheap. I'm really hoping I can make it work.
Thanks TRR, I will.

That really looks good! I love the rim/tire combo.
Do you have a set of rear fenders for it?

Thanks Eric.
200, I have everything that you don't see, fenders rear rack & tool box, it's 98% complete. My left side fender is broken though. I've been on the lookout for a reasonable replacement since I bought it, but they go for more than I want to pay on ebay so I'll just waiting and watching.

Looks good! These old work horses deserve just as much love as the X's and R's get...
Although I'm wondering how the heck your gonna make that 450R muffler work. Thinking back.. the 200 headpipe is about the same diameter as my thumb. (perhaps a tad bigger) The end of that muffler is huge!
I may have a that fender you need. I'll check and let you know what kinda shape its in.

that thing is gonna be awesome! Im really curious on how the cam, carb and pipe will all work together. I should have a 26mm carb for mine tonight and Im gonna attempt to use a 400ex pipe, and im still looking for a xr200 cam. Have you measured how big the 300ex carb is? Your really gonna have an awesome system when you get it together, cant wait to see the finished product!

why not use a 200x cam ? i had a 200s that ran a 200x carb and cam. those two things really brought it to life. i now have the same engine in my auto-x i am building.
(ccd) thats a nice looking trike you have there. i love them wheels man. i cant wait to see it all done.

Hondahaulic, I haven't measured the carb yet, it's pretty big physically compared to the tiny stock carb. At this point I'm hoping there's enough room for it to even be feasible. I haven't seen this machine all put together and I'm operating on hopes and dreams.
Thanks 84honda200s, I got the wheels off ebay for what I think is a stupid low price. They're mostly for newer quads and that isn't the look they're into, guess they'd been on the shelf for a while at some dealer, don't remember where. I'm diggin' it myself. Now I want to find some kind of spun aluminum baby moon like caps for the center opening. Now that would be really cool.
Peace out, Chris

Those big wheels definately do look awesome. Oh and not trying to hijack the thread, but is there any power difference between a 200x cam and an xr200 cam, or is it an un-noticeable difference? again, sorry for the hijacking.

Hey man, that's not a hijack, but I really have no first hand knowledge. From what I've read it does make a nice difference in the mid to high rpms. I'll let you know when I get all my junk put together.

Beats me? I ordered them on size. They are Douglas .190, 12x7 with 4x110 bolt pattern. Sick-lookin aren't they? Set off the old trike right nice.

Great Big Red! I have an 84 also. Are there any fender options out there for us? I didn't see any at Maier. OEM isn't available new. Anything else?

None that I'm aware of, just good used, if you can find it. And thanks, hope it turns out alright. Chris

Been working on this thing for what seems like forever. I have now finished all the body and frame work except the tank. I'm fairly happy with the way it looks...now if I can only get it to run. I took the topend off the engine today and boy what a hunk of junk. The head has broken exhaust stud holes, I got another head and though I might just get by exchanging them, but I decided to slide the jug off to look at the piston and rings. The rings were frozen to the piston. Glad I didn't try to crank it like that. Anyway I decided to order a Wiseco 10.25:1 compression piston to replace it with. I didn't like the idea of 7 something to 1 compression and having the grunt to pull my heavy butt around. Now I'm doing the piston and rings, xr200 cam, 300ex carb, homemade exhaust. Hope it all comes together okay. Check the pics, Chris

Wide rearend. I swapped sides on my rims, gained 6 inches in width.

200's like that aren't meant for huge ports and giant intakes and exhausts. usually putting a huge header pipe from a machine twice the displacement and 10 times the performance, makes the machine preform worse. same with carbs. im not bashing anyone im just putting out my thoughts.
