does anybody know if a 81-82 atc 250r motor will fit a 83 250r? Or will just the bottom end work.

my buddy just got a 83 with no fifth gear. i found a couple deals on 82 motors on ebay.

thank

You will have to use the shifter shaft from your 83-84 other than that it will work...

Yes it will fit like a glove. 81-84 are the same except the drive+suspension.

I have a 83-84 motor in my 82 250r. The only thing you notice from the out side is the later ones are black and not red. I beleive the 83-84's have bigger porting.

I need to talk to someone who has built a 1984 250R. I had to do so much research just to figure out that my front forks are from a 85'. The bike is a 1982. ??

They need to remanufacture some DG COOL heads for the old school trikes!!
Can't they just make a mold or something?

you could have to make a cast, the problem is you have to get a few in on it, and when I say few I mean around 50 units. I have looked into doing it through my own company and its going to be pretty expensive to do...

shortline10's I can tell that you ride your trike because your suspension in the rear is low for better control. Low in the back high in the front. I think the 86' R is too tall.

TRUE. Damn I love those things. I would probably buy a trike just because it's on there!!

I heard In the grapevine that HONDA used to have a water cooled head for the 81-84 250R's. That would be nice.

All he said in this thread was he had 85 forks. I don't see (unless it was deleted) anything about him having gen3 swingarm or any water cooled parts on his trike.

A couple watercooled kits were designed for the airfoolers though.

My comp shut off! I have an 82' 250R, my brother has a 81' 250R! I have a custom extended 85' swinger converted w/ 82' parts.
The guy I bought it from did some crazy nice work on it. I got it for 200 and polished her all up.
