I went to change the tranny oil on my r and I was loosening up the 17mm bolt. After I turned it 20 times I realised that it was not retracting. So must be the threads are crossed and I was wondering how to get the bolt out now. I dont understand how someone did that.
Dammit!

Your threads probably just broke loose. Lock some visegrips onto the bolt and pull it out as you turn it. You'll probably pull most of the threads out with the bolt so you're going to have fix that.

I had that on my KX250 dirtbike once, but it seemed the thread of the carter that was broken, I fixed it with a helicoil.
To get the bolt out, I put a big flat screwdiver between the carter and bolt's head and then I turned the bold to loosen it. But you have to be carefull not to damage the carters

dont rely on that helicoil thing. its junk. just rethread it and put a slightly bigger bolt in. dont go to big otherwise u will crack the casing. maybe 1mm bigger or .5mm bigger. hell u might get by with just rethreading the hole. who knows

Permatex has a new product to fix mangled threads, I don't remember the name. Go to your local parts store and check where they keep loctite and stuff like that. I looked at it one time and thought it would be a good fix for the right problem. You have to have some useable threads, you goop it up with this stuff and put your bolt back it the hole, this stuff bonds with the material, not the bolt and makes new threads. Supposed to be very strong. Might be worth a shot. Chris

I don't know how helicoil is junk, it's stronger then the original threats, but hey, just my opinion. ;)
