ok so i have a 200x its pretty much stock right now except a dg pipe and it has a 13/40 sprocket set up i want to get a 35 for the back but my friend tells me i wont have any acceleration so i was going to put a cam a bigger carb and a piston in it then would i still have enough power to accelerate with a 13/35 setup

yea you will do just fine. besides i think you would accelerate better with a smaller rear because it takes less to turn a smaller one that a bigger one. or at least thats what i would think.

yes, you will have a higher topspeed, the upgrades you mentioned should even it out, so your acceleration wont hurt too much, mix and match man, buy a bunch of cheap tester sprockets and see what works, then when you got it down go for a new chain and top of the line sprockets, if you really get into it you can swap out sprockets for different conditions and riding types

i actually dont notice a difference in pick up between my old 40 tooth and my new 35 tooth i just notice i go faster.:lol: :beer

anyway thanks for setting it straight. i wasnt sure. im kinda new to the whole gearing thing.
